Chapter 48: Strike First!

The baseball bat dragged on the ground with a clanging sound. Although Xu Chao didn't display outward anger, the quiet dog is usually the one that bites. The way Xu Chao carried himself indicated he was ready to severely punish Wang Hao and his crew.

But as Xu Chao entered the room, he saw Zhang Cheng. He was taken aback. He wondered who this man was. Why was he wearing a police bulletproof vest, brimming with police equipment, and holding a Glock 18 in his hand?

Bam! Bam! Bam! The gunfire sounded, and Zhang Cheng, clutching his gun with both hands, pulled the trigger without hesitation. He struck first, took every opportunity to shoot, and didn't give Xu Chao any chances.

"Wah!" Wang Lele shrieked.

The gunshots from within the room startled Xiao Tian, Emily, and others.

Zhou Xia went as pale as a sheet and said, "Xu Chao didn't...kill them, did he?" Xiao Tian and the others immediately ran upstairs. When they arrived, they found Xu Chao lying on the ground with six gunshot wounds. Zhang Cheng made sure he was dead, not sparing a single bullet.

As Xiao Tian and his group entered, they thought they would find the bodies of Wang Hao and others. Instead, they saw Xu Chao sprawled on the ground.

"Who are you!" Xiao Tian had just managed to get the question out when Zhang Cheng picked up the gun and continued to fire. In a radius of less than five meters, Xiao Tian and a young man next to him were both shot and fell to the ground next to Xu Chao. And before the two men behind them could escape, Zhang Cheng pursued them outside and continued to fire his Type 92 handgun.

Bam! bam! bam!

Wang Lele watched the entire brutal event unfold. The two men who just attempted to escape outside ran right into Emily and Zhou Xia.

Bam! Bam! Bam! The gunshots resounded.

The bullets did not discriminate between men and women. Soon, both the men and the women were shot. The ones who didn't die tried their best to crawl downstairs while their blood flowed down the steps.

However, Zhang Cheng did not shoot again. He'd already used a great deal of ammunition. He unsheathed his dagger, holding it firmly in hand.

Emily had been shot in her abdomen and shoulder. She did her best to survive. However, she suddenly felt a weight on her back.

Zhang Cheng grabbed Emily by her hair and took a deep breath. Today, he had killed people with a gun. Since he had already committed murder, using another tool did not make much difference.

This was the apocalypse. Even though these people had done nothing to harm him, if he wanted to survive, and more so, thrive, he would have to rob resources from others!

With a low roar, Zhang Cheng stabbed Emily in the back. It was his first time killing a woman. Pulling out the knife, Emily fell onto the floor in agony, motionless. Her pupils started to dilate.

Zhang Cheng continued his slaughter, using his body to pin or trample them down and stab them to death. Zhou Xia and others were killed one after another.

Now, only one man who had crawled and rolled down the stairs to the second floor was left. Zhang Cheng followed him, stepping on the man's back. The man grit his teeth and tried to push himself up to struggle with Zhang Cheng. But after Zhang Cheng stepped back, he kicked at the man instead.

The man spat out a mouthful of blood. Meanwhile, Zhang Cheng squatted down, stabbing the dagger into the man's belly with all his might. Pulling out the knife, then stabbing, and pulling out again.

At this moment, Zhang Cheng's face was covered in blood, and it made him look more savage. The man finally breathed his last. Zhang Cheng threw the dagger on the floor, lying flat on the ground himself, panting heavily.

His heart was pounding fast. From the moment he first entered the villa and fired the initial gunshot, his body instinctively held onto the dagger. Perhaps this was the primal instinct people covered up with civilization.
