Learning how to use the walkie-talkie, Tang Ying was excited to give it a try. As she tuned the channel, a rustling sound emerged, followed by a woman's voice.
"Elder Brother, are you there? Please save me!"
The voice sounded familiar. Zhang Cheng remembered. It was the self-proclaimed doctor. However, her voice sounded weaker. If true, she would have starved another few days and likely didn't even have the strength to walk anymore.
Wang Qiang was still pleading for help, repeating the same phrase. Ever since she received Zhang Cheng's response that day, she regarded him as her last hope. If Zhang Cheng didn't save her, she would definitely starve to death.
Tang Ying, while looking at noodles on the table and piles of food, muttered, "She's so pitiful."
Zhang Cheng coldly said, "It's not just her who is pitiful."
"Yes, you're right," Tang Ying agreed, understanding Zhang Cheng's point. If she didn't meet Zhang Cheng, she would surely be worse off than the pleading woman. At least that woman had a walkie-talkie, while Tang didn't even have one.
Zhang Cheng took out the walkie-talkie and said, "Let's change the channel." Tang Ying nodded then switched to another channel. Both of them tested it out and could hear each other's voice within this frequency range.
Zhang Cheng said, "Okay, I'm going out; you stay home." After he finished, he was about to leave the room. However, when he reached the door, he suddenly thought of something, "By the way, did you run out of sanitary pads?"
Tang Ying remembered, blushed as she rushed to answer, "I had forgotten to tell you."
Zhang Cheng said, "When I come back, I'll bring some for you."
Watching Zhang Cheng ride away on his motorcycle, Tang Ying stood by the window, waving him off like a dutiful wife. Then, by pressing the button on the control panel, the iron door closed.
Tang Ying was truly happy with her life now. Although she initially disliked and even despised Zhang Cheng, she had to admit that he was a good man. He was very caring and truly cared for her. If it were not for the apocalypse, she wouldn't have the chance to understand him. Of course, if it were not for the apocalypse, they would be paralleling each other all the time, without an opportunity to intersect.
...
Riding on his Harley motorcycle, Zhang Cheng quickly left the villa district. Those zombies that chased them yesterday merely glanced at him today, then ignored him.
Zhang Cheng first went to the police station, where there were still lots of equipment left. Later, he went to the convenience store on the street, fetched sanitary pads, and casually grabbed a bag of rice.
A Harley motorcycle loaded with rice and sanitary pad, such things, only Zhang Cheng could do. If Xu Chao knew this, he might come back from anger.
After securing the items, Zhang Cheng headed to the vehicle repair shop.
Once he parked at the repair shop, the girl in the attic already knew about it. Nevertheless, she wasn't certain who the person was, she could only grip a wrench tightly, defending herself in the attic.
After getting off the motorcycle, Zhang Cheng looked at the zombies around him. The zombies, after spotting a human, their first instinct was to pounce. It's an innate hunt. Zhang Cheng had tested it yesterday, fortunately, there were only over a dozen zombies. Even alone, he managed to handle it.
However, today, the Harley made a considerable noise on the street, attracting a large number of zombies. If he was to be surrounded by zombies later, the consequences were unimaginable.
"Forget it, if it's tiring, then so be it."
Zhang Cheng drew out his dagger, and started with the nearest zombie. Pressing down the zombie's shoulder, he stabbed its skull with the dagger.
As he pulled out the dagger, the zombie fell on the ground. He proceeded to the next. He cleared one zombie every three seconds on average.
In around an hour, all the zombies visible to the naked eye had fallen.
