Chapter 3: Go For the Glory!

Filled up with a simple meal, Zhou Yuan headed back to the teaching building. The graduation exam for the senior year had already finished, and today was the day when the results were announced. Based on their exam scores, the graduates needed to fill out an application form to enlist in the army or choose to find a job themselves. Outside the teaching building, there was a bustling crowd gathering around the school display, checking their exam scores.

"Clap, clap, clap!!!"

"Good job, Johnny!"

"Looks like I have a companion now. Johnny, let's go try out for the Blue Devil team together."

"The Mobile Infantry is not bad either. I heard the people inside are cool!"

Even before Zhou Yuan got close, he could hear applause and laughter erupting from the crowd.

"Papapapa!!!"

"Johnny Rico, you've done well!"

As soon as he was near enough, he saw the two rows of large fonts on the display screen.

[Johnny Rico]

[Average score: 35 points, Recommendation 1: Join the Mobile Infantry, Recommendation 2: Become a Football Player]

"Hey, turn that off!"

Johnny Rico was somewhat embarrassed and quickly turned off the magnifier function on the display screen. He came from a wealthy family, so wealthy that he could travel through space every day, and poor exam results would not affect his future prospects. But money and face were not related. He was not the kind of hooligan who would take bad grades as a badge of honor. Bad grades were shameful, especially since his girlfriend was standing next to him!

"As expected of you, Johnny."

Zhou Yuan stood outside the crowd, and his lips gradually curved upwards. Johnny Rico was a super easy-going super rich second generation, the former star of the Milky Way Battle Team, and the future general of the Federal Mobile Infantry. Carmen Ibanez, Johnny Rico's current girlfriend, would eventually dump him and become the captain of a starship fleet in the Federal Starship Fleet. Thanks to Carmen's networking, their relationship with Johnny Rico was not bad.

"Hey man, have you taken care of your troubles?"

Suddenly, someone patted Zhou Yuan's shoulder. It was a familiar voice and a familiar way of greeting.

"Let me guess, the future Supreme Commander of the Federal Strategic Forces, Carl Jenkins?"

Zhou Yuan did not turn around but closed his eyes and stroked his chin with a smile.

"Yes!"

"Your psychic sensing ability is getting stronger and stronger, you can even see the future now."

Carl raised his eyebrows and locked Zhou Yuan's neck from behind.

"Kid, I suggest you show some respect to me."

"You're currently locking the neck of the future ruler of the Federation, the ruler of the universe, the nightmare of the Arachnids, the greatest man in human history."

Zhou Yuan elbowed backward, then turned around and locked Carl's head under his rib.

"Ok, ok!"

"Let me go, I can't breathe!"

Carl screamed and hurriedly patted Zhou Yuan's arm.

"I didn't use any force at all."

Zhou Yuan smiled helplessly and released Carl. Speaking of which, this guy Carl was really a monster. His psychic sensing talent was very strong. Even when he was in high school, the Strategic Forces had already reserved him, and he could go to the Strategic Forces directly after graduation.

In his middle age, Carl could do cross-star mental communication, brainwashing worms, telekinesis to hold objects in the void, and psychic shock to blast the heads of bugs. He was so powerful that it was explosive! If his psychic talent was 80 points, then Carl would be 200 points, a peak superhuman being.

But things were different now. With the external capabilities activated, any talent was irrelevant. He could do what others could do, and he could do what others couldn't do.

...

"Let's go, it's our turn now."

After chatting for a while, Carl pushed Zhou Yuan towards the display screen. Fewer people were around the display screen now, and everyone who needed to check their scores had already done so, so they didn't need to queue up, and the two of them quickly found their scores.

Zhou Yuan's score was excellent in all subjects, with an average of 91 points.

Carl's score was perfect in all subjects and even received points from the school, with an average of 103 points.

"Zhou, when are you going to report to the Strategic Forces?"

"We can go together. The Strategic Forces will send someone to pick me up in a week."

On their way to the school park, Carl asked Zhou Yuan, his eyes full of expectation.

The entry requirements for the three major forces of the Federation were different.

Mobile Infantry: physically fit.

Starship Troopers: physically fit, possess an excellent graduation certificate from Starship Academy.

Strategic Forces: possess psychic sensing ability.

Psychic sensing was a one-in-a-million talent, and those who possessed this ability could join the Strategic Forces even if they scored 0 points in all subjects in the high school graduation exam. The high entry requirements also meant that joining the Strategic Forces after graduation would result in a high status. One was an infantryman, one was a pilot, and one was a strategic officer. How could they not choose?

Therefore, the Strategic Forces were the force that everyone dreamed of joining.

But unfortunately, the entry requirements were too high, and sometimes even one school could not produce a student who qualified to join the Strategic Forces.

"No, I plan to join the Mobile Infantry."

"Go for it! I'm looking forward to fighting side by side with you one day."

Zhou Yuan smiled and shook his head, then patted Carl's shoulder.

"Mobile Infantry?"

"Shit, are you serious, Zhou?"

"Although the Mobile Infantry is cool, it won't be of much help to your future."

"With your intelligence, you can't possibly not know that there is no promotion opportunity in the Mobile Infantry when there is no war."

Upon hearing Zhou Yuan's words, Carl stopped in his tracks. He looked at Zhou Yuan with surprise, as if he had seen a monster. And indeed, he was a monster. Instead of becoming the most promising strategic officer, he went to be an infantryman? But his psychic sensing told him that Zhou Yuan was very calm now and should be telling the truth.

"The internship period in the Strategic Forces is too long, and I don't want to spend my time answering the phone."

"According to the frequency of meteorite invasions by the Arachnids, the war between humans and bugs may start soon."

"So I want to go to the Mobile Infantry, see the real bugs, see the real world, and seize my own glory."

"Man, when we meet on the battlefield, you must salute me."

Zhou Yuan spoke calmly and finally extended his hand to Carl.
