Chapter 93: Captain Carl!

On October 17th, Zhou Yuan finally received his transfer notice and boarded a starship bound for the Pluto coastline fortress at 8 o'clock in the morning.

It had been 27 days since he received the news, plus the three-day deadline given to him by the fortress, making it exactly one month. Angus' "within a month" was a bit too long, which annoyed Zhou Yuan.

Title: Financial Genius - Gain 1 soul point per minute

Soul Points:

After the starship took off, Zhou Yuan opened his personal panel to check.

During this nearly one-month waiting period, he only managed to earn 360,000 soul points, with 40,000 of them being a reward from the title. The efficiency was terrifyingly low.

But there was nothing he could do. The number of bugs on Mars was decreasing, and finding a bug swarm was no easier than finding a needle in a haystack. This was true for all the planets under the Federation's control.

After the fall of Pluto, more than 30,000 people died, including nearly a thousand senior researchers. This was a painful blow to the Federation. In order to prevent such an event from happening again, the Federation had taken drastic measures and scraped all the planets with bugs.

As the first colonized planet of humanity, Mars received higher attention. The flying and mechanical troops had to run outside the fortress every day, and destroy all the bugs and bug swarms they could find.

So in this nearly one month, he only managed to destroy eight bug nests, which was not much.

If it weren't for "Financial Genius" and "Powerful Insecticide", his soul point balance wouldn't even reach 500,000.

"Captain, the warp drive is ready," Claire whispered as she walked up to him.

Claire was a 22-year-old major, the captain of his defense force responsible for the travel of scientific researchers and defense personnel.

It's worth mentioning that Zhou Yuan didn't personally select her. As a strict commander, he hoped that all members of his team were experienced veterans who had been through many battles.

He originally refused but Angus told him that Claire's parents were both admirals of starship forces, each with their own fleet...

As a mighty figure, how could he allow such a thing to happen?

He vehemently opposed the idea at first, hesitating for several seconds before allowing Claire to join. As a commanding officer, he couldn't underestimate her just because she was younger. Compared to him, an 18-year-old captain, Claire, at 22 years old and already a major, was hardly anything to scoff at. He believed that her promotion to major at such a young age was due to her own abilities, not her parents' positions as generals.

On another note, Claire was his biggest fan, a 22-year-old who looked a lot like a young Angelina Jolie. This stirred his...appreciation, and he decided to cultivate her.

But even if Claire was the captain, driving a spacecraft was something the pilots did. She only had to sit and give orders.

"Let's go, take me to the battlefield," said Zhou Yuan, dressed in space armor and propping his chin with one hand.

"Yes, sir!" Claire replied loudly, saluting him. She even straightened up when she did, making her full and soft uniform look even more appealing.

"Keep it steady, prepare for curvature acceleration," Zhou Yuan ordered as the main driver.

"Calculate the orbit and notify the crew," Claire ordered as the co-driver. From the way she stood, she still had a lot of captain's demeanor.

"All members and departments on board, please prepare to switch drivers and enter hyperspace travel."

"Please prepare..."

As the broadcast from the spaceship's co-driver sounded, Claire sat back down next to Zhou Yuan and whispered, "Sir, the Moonlight will be your exclusive battleship from now on."

"In order to help you better understand the Moonlight, I want to show you the personnel layout and ship group area before we arrive at Pluto," she continued.

"Sure," Zhou Yuan nodded. He was indeed interested in the spaceship's interior. Because of his lack of clearance, he had never been able to explore it before. But now that he was in charge, he could finally explore everything from top to bottom.

"How about we go to the captain's lounge first?" suggested Claire. "That used to be my dormitory, but things are different now. That will be yours from now on."

As she spoke, she stared intently at Zhou Yuan, her face even turning a little red, full of youthful vitality.

Really?

Zhou Yuan frowned. He wasn't the kind of person who could be easily tempted. He just thought Claire was right. As the true commander of this spaceship, he needed to know everything about it, including the captain and the captain's lounge.

For the Federation!

"Driver, once we arrive at Pluto, do not land. Instead, patrol the outer space first."

"The captain has participated in the Battle of Pluto before and wants to see what it looks like now."

"I'm going to take the captain to the observation area. Until the captain gives the order, maintain the patrol in outer space."

Seeing Binjie agree, Claire immediately stood up and gave new orders to the driver, then made a please gesture towards Binjie.

Binjie nodded slightly and walked out of the cockpit.

After the cockpit door closed, Binjie looked at Claire and asked, "Impersonating a superior's order is a serious crime. The punishment can range from ten lashes at the lightest to hanging or firing squad at the most severe. Are you prepared for that?"

"Commander, perhaps you can execute me privately," Claire said softly, her eyes filled with admiration and fanaticism.

"Claire, I hope this is the last time," Binjie said, pleased with Claire's attitude towards him but dissatisfied with her attitude as a soldier. Impersonating a superior's order is not a trivial matter, even if it's meant as a joke. It's like crying wolf; if something really happens, it will be troublesome. We cannot develop such habits.

"Yes, Commander!" Claire saluted excitedly, her expression unchanged, still showing that fanatical fangirl look. Apparently, she didn't take Binjie's words to heart.

"..."

"Let's go."

Binjie shook his head helplessly and gestured for Claire to continue leading the way. He had no words left to say and knew he had to properly... educate this unruly soldier.
