Eating and Talking

Luckus seems to know where this is going and that I am talking about myself.

"And he lasts 2 years?"

"Well not really, after all you are still alive are you not?"

"Ya, I am"

"Do you understand now?"

"Most of it but is the reason you helped me was because you have a soft side for kids?"

"It's something like that."

"Wait, does that mean you have photographic memory?"

"Yes, it is very helpful."

"Your real name is Mallvack?"

"Yes, how many questions are you going to ask?"

"Sorry."

"It's fine, you should know, after all I told you something and if you have questions I will answer."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Do you have a reason?"

"Yes."

"What is it?"

"It would take too long to explain. Now, any more questions?"

"Yes, who is the boy you meet up with?"

"Well he works with me."

"Well a lot of people work for you, so that doesn't really help."

"I know, that's why I say it. It is not my place to say who it is."

"Alright."

I hear someone walking towards the room. The door opened. I turn around and see Dr. Sanna. She has a clipboard, a bottle and a container that looks to have pills in it in her hands. I look up at the clock and it is 2:35.

"Hello doctor, what do you need?"

"I'm here to give him his meds."

"Set them down on the table."

"Yes, sir." She set the water and pills on the table.

"Is there anything else he needs?"

"Here, it is everything he needs, what happened, and all the injuries he has." She gives me the clipboard in her hands.

"Thank you, I will deal with it." I look down at the clipboard, quickly skimping over it.

"I will take my leave."

"Alright." Dr. Sanna leaves the room. I take the meds and give them to Luckus with the water.

"Take it." He takes the pills and drinks some of the water.

"Make sure you finish the water."

"Ok."

"I will be back."

"Where are you going?"

"You'll see when I get back."

I leave the room with the clipboard in my hand. Reading over it, as long as everything heals how it should, then there should be no problem. His spine will need to have support to heal straight and is the worst injury he has. There are injuries from a few months ago. His hands need to stay warm, which shouldn't be too hard. The room was probably warmer for that reason. He had a few infections that have been dealt with.

I walk to the café to get a snack for Luckus. The café isn't far from the infirmary so in a few minutes I was there. I go in and grab two fruit mixes and leave to go back to Luckus. Walking back I see Everett.

"Hello, Everett."

"Hello, what are you doing boss?"

"Grabbing food for the kid."

"How is he?"

"He is doing well."

"How is everything going?"

"Well the news is waiting for his body."

"They aren't getting it."

"I guessed so."

"Tell Luckus' family that he is alive and if they ask questions, then you can tell me and I will decide what to do then."

"Yes, sir." Everett leaves.

I walk to the infirmary and into the room Luckus is in. I see the water is gone and Luckus seems to need something.

"You need something?"

"Yes, where is the bathroom?"

"Over there." I chuckle out as I point to the other door in the room.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." He walks to the door. I put the fruit down on the table and sat in the chair I was in before. After a few minutes he comes out of the bathroom. He sees the fruit on the table.

"Who is the fruit for?"

"You."

"Why?"

"Because you need to eat something, so you can heal."

"Alright." He sits down on the bed and I hand him the fruit.

"Eat up."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

After a few minutes of silence other than Luckus eating. Luckus speaks up.

"Does my family know?"

"That you are alive, by now yes, where you are, no."

"When did you tell them?"

"I sent someone to tell them when I went to get you food."

"Why did you wait if I was out for two days?"

"So I could answer any questions they have about you and your condition"

"You aren't as bad as they make you out to be."

"Who and how?"

"Well right about everyone and well, lots of reasons. After all you are taking care of me, you are willing to answer questions."

"You are a kid. You shouldn't have been chosen."

"They said they sent the other but they knew they would fail."

"It's not like you would have succeeded either."

"I didn't think I would."

"Then why did you try?"

"I had to try to prove I could do something."

"You have done plenty of that."

"What do you mean?"

"Well you are a straight A student now and before you were a hero."

"That is the bare minimum."

"How is it?"

"It doesn't get any recognition, so it must not be enough"

"Well it is and being told otherwise is wrong."

"Oh?"

"Have you ever gotten any recognition at all?"

"No"

"Well that's the problem."

"It is?"

"Yes, it is. Now why don't you finish your food. I need to go check on a few things. If you need anything there is a button you can click that will call Dr. Sanna." I point to the button.

"When will you be back?"

"You want me to come back?"

"Yes, I enjoy your company and you are the only person I know here."

"Even though I almost killed you and I killed your dad."

"I guess when you say it like that it seems messed up but yes."

"You are something." I sat up to leave when I heard Luckus speak.

"Will you come back?"

"I will. I will come back when I am done."

"Alright, thank you."

"You're welcome child."
