Time Isn't Right

I end up staring at the clock for a few minutes. How is it 5 when I woke up at 6? I look over at Everett.

"Hey, what time did you wake up this morning?"

"Around 5:30, why?"

"Because it is now 5:23."

"I might have read the time wrong then but then I would have been awake since 2 if I read the time wrong but that is quite early or I could be thinking about yesterday and it doesn't feel like that long has passed.."

"No, you didn't because I woke up at 6 and Hope definitely wouldn't have woken up if it was that early."

"Well she was hard to wake up today." Everett suddenly stops. "Wait, you woke up at 6?"

"Yes I did."

I see Everett pause. "How is this possible then? What clock did you look at?"

"The clock is on the wall when I woke up and then the oven."

"One of them could be wrong." Everett seems hesitant.

"They are never wrong though. You are always on top of it and the power hasn't gone out. Plus, the batters are still working fine in the clock as I replaced them last week."

"Then I guess there is only one question that we should be asking, how is this happening?"

"I don't know." I think for a second. "Monday we should look into this more. Right now, let's focus on the kiddos and keeping them safe. I have a bad feeling if time is being messed with."

"Should we keep this from them?"

"That would properly be for the best."

"Then I won't tell them."

Everett and I go back to cleaning everything up but everything is already put away so we sit down on the couch. I try not to go to my room to grab my work phone. I know I need to change but if I go to my room I will try to see what is going on and why and this is supposed to be my weekend and I should spend time with Lukus.

After a few minutes, Everett says, "we should take the kids to the park so they can have some fun and we can take our mind off of this."

I guess Everett was thinking about this too. "That sounds like a good idea. I will go get the kiddos." I stand up from the couch as I speak.

Both Lukus and Hope are quite happy that we are going to the park. Everyone gets dressed as Everett gets lunch around for us and he uses the sandwiches that I made yesterday for the kids just in case. I manage to leave my work phone alone as I get dressed into real clothes. We got into an Everett car. I sit in the passenger seat as Everett helps Hope get into her car seat. We soon got to the park. The kids start running around. Soon some other parents started talking to us, bragging about their kids. We just listen to them but after about 10 minutes things get weird. Everything seems to go backwards. Hope and Lukus runs up to us. Hope hugs onto Everett close. Hope seems more scared than Lukus is. Everett does his best to confort Hope.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know nor do I know why we aren't affected."

"Do you know how to stop it?"

"No, I don't but I plan on looking Monday."

"Why Monday?"

"So I can use the weekend to relax but by the looks of it I might not be doing much relaxing."

"Can we go home?" Hope mumbles into Everett's chest.

I look up at Everett and he nods. "Yes, let's go home." I pick up Lukus as I talk.

We get back in. I check the time on my phone and it's about an hour back so it is now 4:49. I put my phone down as I try to think of a reason. This is so out of place. I look back at the kids as Everett drives, they are playing eye spy. They seem happier which is good.

When we get home we all play games together. We eat in the backyard so we can still have a picnic.

We see time changing a lot throughout the weekend, getting us in trouble a few times. When Monday does come along, I have Everett stay home with Lukus and Hope so they don't have to worry about anything. I am still paying for the day. I get to work on trying to figure out what is happening but I can't get anything done as time keeps shifting so when I ask my workers to do something the times turn and suddenly I never told them to do that because it was before I told them. I have been running around everywhere.
