The connection was very weak since it was further than a hundred miles away, but Mark was just able to get something back before the link closed. The falcon chirped and informed Mark that it was only a few hours away from the shoreline, and from the falcon's eyes, Mark could tell that it was close to nightfall.
'I won't be able to see what's happening, but Pat uses the MDS, so he should still be able to scan the area properly.'
Mark took in a deep breath and sighed calmly. For some reason, Mark felt like this was the one moment when he was going to be able to breathe this freely for a long time. That natural instinct that most humans had, which allowed them to predict when trouble was just waiting for them in the future, was already starting to warn Mark of things to come. Mark knew that whatever they found on that shoreline would probably be the catalyst for something that would change the way the world was right now.
