Chapter 6: First kill.

Aldin Randell

In a short time, I had gotten to the clearing. First of all, I set up my radars. It was a spell I had developed to always whether there were any beasts nearby by spreading water thin over a large radius and would help identify their movements. It came out clean, no beasts were close to my location.

I sat down on the ground and closed my eyes to focus. Today I wanted to work on light since I had been trying to create an offensive spell based on light. There were hard light constructs that I could use but they were mana expensive and hard to maintain.

At first, I thought I could make fly blades but that was still mana expensive. After a long time, I had been unable to come up with anything. I lay on the grass hoping for a brainstorm but came to mind but that I stayed in the sun too much almost getting sunburnt so I had to move, and that's when I realized it, for light to be offensive it didn't have to be tangible, I had been looking at it from the wrong perspective all this time.

"Let's get to work," I said to myself.

Luke

I had been wandering for a while, I thought I would be unable to get any prey but after a long walk I came upon a group of adventurers that were facing a pack of wolves. I enjoyed watching them struggle until they beat the beasts, that was my cue to strike so I slowly came out from behind them.

"Hello." I said as I approached them." I got lost while hunting since I'm new to these woods.

"we'll help you back to the city." one of them said who I assumed was the leader.

"Thank you very much," I said.

As I was waiting for them to collect their hunt, I walked by observing what they were doing and with every opportunity I got I touched them with my laced finger, it was a slow poison that would cause paralysis. Within an hour they began falling to the ground, one of them tried escaping after realizing what situation they were in but fell a few meters later, now it was time for the fun to begin.

I dragged each one of them together, with a smile on I took out my dagger, although I couldn't hear their screams, I enjoyed the fear in their expression. In a few hours I was done, it was ours after noon, but I still had some time before departure, maybe I could find some more prey but before I continued, I had to dispose of the remains of my playthings, so I set fire on them and watched them turn to ashes before walking away.

I was extremely tired from the experiments with my theory but couldn't help but smile at the results I had gotten even though I was late for lunch it could wait I had to nap a little before leaving, while in the middle of my sleep I was woken up by someone entering the range of my radar, when I stood up he was a small distance away from me, he began walking closer without saying a word.

"What are you doing?." but he simply ignored my words, when he was close enough, he poked my forehead with."

his finger but I quickly swatted his hand away and walked back a bit. I was wary of him and tried to walk away but a few steps away my steps became sluggish. I tried moving faster but soon my body gave up and I fell down flat on my face.

"It always works fast on kids" the man behind me said, "Now I can start."

I failed to understand what he meant but still struggled to get back up. He walked towards me but when I tried to scream my jaws were shut, fear begun creeping in me, I was frightened of what he would do, I tried using my magic but nothing worked when he finally got close I hoped that my amulet would work but nothing happened, possibly because it was not there. When he got to me, he turned me to face the sky, it was almost moonrise.

"You can try and scream, but nothing will happen the venom is already in your bloodstream." He said with a creepy smile on his face, my mind was running all over looking for a solution out when pain from my hand brough me back to reality, with all my focus on that I tried fighting away the pain in the midst of all my trial I could feel the mana in my blood, I pushed it to where the pain was coming from, although I had yet to feel relief from the pain I still pushed on and pain came from my other hand pain filled my mind, unconsciously tears run down my face. When he noticed them, he began laughing hysterically. I was confused at his reason for this.

'Why is he doing this? can't the pain end? why did it have to be me?' These questions ran through my mind as I struggled to retake control over my body.

Suddenly mana began flowing, I immediately used it to raise a stone pillar that hit him pushing him away. Because I couldn't see where he was I used the radar spell to detect him to where he was I fired water arrows at him, but he evaded all of them, he begun to approach him and out of fear I raised earth spikes to try and pierce him, slowly I was able to move my body as I raised myself with all my strength he was about to reach me out of instinct I raised another spike that pierced him, he backed up as I continued getting up, looking at him he had a ball of flame in his hand, he shot it at me and I formed a water shield that extinguished it., this time I was able to wake up fully stand up. Seeing where he was, I fired more water arrows at him, but he dodged all of them and continued to approach me when he was within my range, I caused multiple earth spikes to rise, some of them were able to pierce him and he had to move back, it seemed he had decided to change tactics.

From where he stood, he fires attacks of his own, fire balls cam in my direction, I was able or block a few but when he began changing their direction when they were close to me and most of them hit home, it was very painful, but I had to endure it to survive. Although it took some time but I was finally able to raise a wall of water, I was only able to use this mana expensive spell because of my abnormally large mana core but with all the spells he was firing it would soon collapse, I had to use something else but all my other spell were either close combat or too weak to work the only option I had was, my newest, it would take time but the shield would hold in until then I closed my eyes, from his point he would think I was tired from all the mana but I did this to focus on it since it needed a lot of concentration. Even though my eyes were closed I could feel him come close through radar I meanwhile I filled it with mana, when he was close enough, I fired it at him, I expected it to injure him enough for me to get away but when I looked up a hole had gone through him. I had never killed and what I saw Infront of me shook me to the core.

I immediately puked all the bile in my stomach.

"What have I done?" I said to the darkness, I had just killed a human being, I felt disgusted at myself I let out scream as I scratched my head due to the feelings overcoming me. Then everything went black all I could see was darkness around me and Infront a strange creature stood Infront of me emitting a white aura staring me down with its white glowing eyes.

After Adlin's spell killed Luke, it went in a straight path splitting trees and when it lost momentum it blew up emitting a giant explosion of light that could be seen from deep in the forest and even the city. This caught the worried Randell couple filling them with dread of what might have happened.

Meanwhile at the camp, Brook, the wolf fangs' captain had also seen it.

"Clear the camp and begin the journey, me and that idiot will join you Ater on."

After making this announcement he ran out in the direction of the explosion, 'I hope we don't get caught because of your damned bloodlust' he thought to himself.
