A coincidence?

Hearing the kidnapper's cold and cruel words, a wave of despair flashed over me, but I refrained from showing any emotion on my face. I didn't want to give him any joy or pleasure of hurting me. I stared straight into his eyes, a defiant sneer on my lips.

"You have made a grave mistake," I hissed, my voice devoid of emotion. "You will regret kidnapping me."

"Oh really?" Gaius raised his brows and laughed at me. "And why's that? Are you some princess? Or noble's daughter? No one's coming to save you. You are all alone now. Hahaha...."

I held his gaze without flinching. A surge of anger coursed through me, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing it.

Sensing my defiance, the leader grew impatient. With a swift movement, he seized my hair, pulling it tightly. "Listen here, girl," he growled, "you better start behaving, or I'll make you regret it."
