Chapter Eighty four

Artha really spaced out much after the two elite bunnies arrived and tried to ambush the team. He remembered using skills automatically. Where the heck is autoguide when you need one? Why did the game developers have to be so sadistic to making players game in manual mode?

He kept aiming for the bunnies and blasted them. His AoE spell was on cooldown. Oh, he still remembers he helped in melee attack too, using his trusty basic training staff. Which broke off immediately. But... The aggro was shifted to him, thus allowing others to hurt the monster more. If the monster had been a dog, he would have just tossed that broken staff far away and asked that dog to fetch. Weird thoughts you get when you see something gets mauled, broken and discarded.

He had more staffs, losing one meant nothing. The bunnies ravaged the team. It was almost team wipe out. Almost. He was still there. Sela somehow made it. And Jack! Even a weak player like a thief survived. The most intense 10 minutes of Artha's life.

"This better be worth it," Jack growled as he flashed past a bunny monster and hit it.

Sela finally stood up after the potions pulled her HP bar to half.

"Take some potions, Sela. We can manage. There won't be any more elites in this section."

True enough. The only problem, more bunnies. But Artha or Jack didn't mention it. Without a healer, they won't be able to move much. A tank would be necessity when they had to take breaks to swallow the potions. Without a strong tank, they were doomed anyway. What's few more minutes of grueling if it can save your life?

Sela directly joined the fight, sharing the burden right away.

"Artha! Get monster loots now!"

"Wait! We are not waiting for these bunnies to die?" He asked perplexed. That was how it was done last 2 times.

"The chances are we may die first. Before that, grab the monster loots. Don't make these deaths useless."

He understood that kind of logic. He trusted his team mates and ran to grab the loots from elite rabbit monsters.

How does the game algorithm work? They had worked hard and lost so many lives. The loot should be worth it, right?

The first loot - meat. Second, fur. Third- there was no third. Okay. The probability of having only 2 loots was as high as 60%, so it's possible. Next bunny. First - a shield. Give it to Sela. Don't have time to check the stats. Second - a recipe. Third - an accessory - a rabbit foot pendant.

He didn't get the chance to to dissect the monsters. Pressing issues. A nimble thief can not save you always. A shield can never be big enough for you to hide forever. Ah, what the heck, enough with preachy thoughts. Let's destroy. 'Sunbeam'.

And run back to empty section. These bunnies are restricted to their sections, let's hope. Because no one had tried this before or told anyone before.

They just ran and ran, like a cowards, till it was shown that they were out of combat status. Without a word, they all gave up dungeon raid. To be more precise, Sela as captain did that. Artha didn't have any problem with the decision. From the way, Jack was behaving, he would not mind.

As they had given up, they came to the beginning of the dungeon, instead of reviving near the village centre by the fountain in the park.

A weird experience, but Artha really didn't not mind walking back to village. Not when the alternative was to have death debuff.

But wait, does he have to go to village now? Yeah, his bags are nearly full. He is carrying so much precious cargo and holding so much coins. Dungeon raids are good because they had more monsters concentrated inside, no need to wait till they respawn, just move to next section and also because they gave great bonuses. Not just XP, items but also coins, all were generous.

Let's do simple irrelevant math and use it for comparison. We will keep it simple and use only coins to understand the concept. Let's assume that each normal monsters gave 5 coins. By the way, that's too much, not all monsters give that much coins. And let's assume that this team had decimated over 500 monsters. They didn't kill that much. So total, 500 x5=2500 coins. Woohoo!!!! Hold on, it's team's earning. So divide it before celebrating. 7 players+1 portion for captain+ 1 for MVP (remember, this is simple calculation, not exact numbers. MVP was decided for each section, to ensure more players got a chance to pocket some extra coins.) +1 for miscellaneous, to make it a 10. So, 2500 divided by 10 gives 250 coins. Plus some extra if you are MVP. That's enough coins to have lavish lifestyle for rest of the...day. The potions used, the lost durability of weapons and equipments which need to be repaired or they needing a replacement....They nibble this huge savings into a small savings to a tiny savings. No five course meal for you but atleast you can have some meat instead of filling your stomach with just runny porridge. But it's still better than grinding in the fields. No wonder, every one says dungeon raid is the way to play the game.

As the tattered team walked, dragged themselves, Artha didn't miss the chance to get his doubts solved.

The important one - why did Sunbeam cause blindness effect on those monsters.

Yep, you guessed it right before. Artha had no clue of the hidden effect. So the whole walk to the village was used to explain about hidden effects of the skills and spells. A headbash has a certain chance of inducing stun effect. Hitting on feet may cause slow movement for some time.

Artha, who hadn't played any games before found it novel. But few examples were perplexing.

"Wouldn't a temple bash give more chance in inducing stun?"

" Can't the eyes be hit or gouged to reduce the vision?"

" Wouldn't hitting joints be better to reduce speed of moving or hitting, rather than on just muscles?"

Who said real life examples can't be used in game? Stand up and explain the same to Artha.

The Nitpicker hits back and he hits hard. His questions didn't distress others, like it did usually, but gave them new venues to practice. Sometimes, just some times, having a blank canvas works wonders.

When they entered the village proper, it was time to part. Sela urgently needed to increase durability of her shields. Jack...well, we shall not go into that matter now. Artha handed over the loots of the two elites and other bunnies in the last section. Sela already had recieved the shield before. He then purchased the recipe.

A moron. Right? He has atleast fifty copies of the same recipe, yet he buys one more.
