Then, as if in response to her growing fatigue, the air around her grew cold, and a deep, resonant sound echoed through the forest. The spirit beasts halted their assault, retreating into the shadows, their eyes still locked on Ariel. She straightened, her sword held at the ready, her eyes scanning the treeline for the source of the sound. 


From the depths of the forest, a figure emerged, a tall and imposing figure emerged. It was a baron spirit, one of the ancient guardians of the land who had guarded the lake. Its body was humanoid and gracious; life seemed to rendezvous with him. The baron's face was hidden behind a bone mask, its eyes glowing with a cold, blue light.
