First day at the Arena

In the Arcane Academy, there were divided into 5 divisions in which students were sorted by their combat test scores, 1-20 A 20-40 B 40-60 C, and 60-100 D . As Adam had scored enough to place 13th he would be assigned to the A division.

The professors were the same for all tiers but the amount of resources and perks would vary significantly, and the rankings could change every quarter by dueling your peers. There are missions to complete which would provide points to the students.

Missions were generally killing some monsters for their parts, Making specific potions, Enchanting or making equipment, and gathering exotic materials. All these would reward you with the Academy's points.

These points could be used to make a mission to get gear, potions, or monster parts. You could also use them in the academy shop which contained skills or B-C tier equipment you could even spendpoints to get some of the specialization professors to tutor you.

As all the students were almost finished. A professor entered the room, He used voice amplification magic and said "Welcome to the arcane academy, You have all been ranked and sorted into your Tiers. You will learn that here in the academy there are no free benefits all the resources, skills or equipment will be obtained by you and only your skill."

The professor began walking away, but he suddenly paused and said" By the way your dorms are to the right each tier has a different building, The better your tier the more density of mana in your room courtesy of your rank. Good luck".

All the students began to head to their dorms. He talked to his dorm neighbor whose name was Leonidas, who was best at magic and potions they both talked for a while and headed to their rooms.

Adam was very interested in training his mana as he had never used any formations for his training. He was pleasantly shocked the density of mana in this room was almost twice as much as outside which meant he could train twice as fast as others.

Hours went by he was still training his mana core and he randomly dozed off. He woke up with an alarm on his school ID it said to meet at the arena with its location showing on the screen.

He hurriedly got ready to leave, As he was on his way to the arena he met Quentin walking with a girl. He introduced himself to the girl and learned her name Zoe. She seemed like a quiet girl and didn't talk much as he and Quentin were talking.

When they reached the arena they saw a big crowd of students. At that point the professor who introduced them to the academy said "Welcome new students today is the day you will see upperclassmen battle in the arena for their yearly rankings. Pay attention you might even learn a thing or two". 

Every new student was incredibly excited as they were about to witness the fiercest battles they had ever seen and hoped to be as strong as the upperclassmen. Everyone got seated at the arena which was basically a modern colosseum.

The sheer scale of the arena told a lot about how much effect the battles would bring on the surroundings. There was a massive screen that had information on who the next combatants and their specializations.

At that point, the Professor said 'BEGIN!'. And instantly the two students in the arena rushed at each other it was hard to even see them move. The students were casting spells as if they had infinite mana. Every fireball was met with a wall of water every lightning strike deflected.

They were trying to hit each other and neither was dealing any damage as the opponents were trying to destroy each other's tempo. At that point, one of the Fireballs connected and the opponent flew away and was instantly knocked out with intense burns on his body.

The professor said, "The Victory goes to Andrew!!" A Standy Healer immediately used healing magic on the passed-out student and fed a potion which Adam assumed was a healing potion or something with similar properties.

Everyone was cheering for the one that won the battle, Adam felt incredibly weak at the same time as hopeful as he would also get as strong as them,no even stronger than them.

Adam was filled with passion and conviction he knew he would reach even higher heights. The second fight was almost similar except it was between a girl and a guy. Instantly when the second fight began the girl used a magic circle and before the opponent could approach her she completed the circle and shot a massive amount of icicles at the opponent.

The opponent deflected some of the icicles but was hit by a majority of them and surrendered at that point. Adam was baffled as to how the girl could complete a magic circle in that short of a time as the entire concept of magic circles was that they were stronger with a long casting time.

As he was thinking about how she cast the magic circle that fast he heard some students talking about how she was from the 'Frost' Family and how they had an innate/bloodline advantage to any ice magic.

tens of battles were conducted but none were as exciting and were even almost average though none of the newer students could last a second against them. Then the professor announced the final battle which would be Elena Frost against Erin Carn. 

The one who cast the super strong super fast ice spell versus the one who was only using pure physical strength with minimal magic and was unremarkable in his fight at least when compared to Elena Frost.
