He's Getting Married

"Why are there no fish in this stream?" she murmured to herself, gazing at the stream bed.

"It's because the young master dislikes fish," a female voice chimed in beside her. Avery Miller looked up to see the maid standing there, the same one from before.

"I knew it. How could the young master suddenly bring a woman home? He used to discard them after getting bored. They didn't believe me when I said you were no different. I wonder, what makes you stand out? Women like you lose their novelty after a few days, no different from the others."

The maid sat down beside Avery Miller, her eyes gleaming with joy as she peered at the pebbles in the stream bed, her heart fluttering with the thrill of regained treasure.

Avery Miller hadn't been around for long and didn't plan to stay much longer, so she kept her distance from everyone except Mr. Bennett and Eleanor Thompson.
