Instead, she harbored a deep sense of guilt, having witnessed the immense pain Ethan Montgomery had been suppressing these past days. 

 

However, as Ethan caught the motion of her pushing him away, he halted, his eyes heavy with desire, yet he offered her a gentle smile. 

 

"Don't worry, if you want to leave, you can. I'll make sure everyone forgets about that incident," he assured, his gaze still betraying a hint of dissatisfaction. 

 

Despite his effort to control the overwhelming urge to claim her entirely, his restraint was palpable.

 

"I know," Avery replied, her eyes filled with concern.

 

"If you keep looking at me like that, I really might lose control," Ethan warned, his brows knitting together as if he was indeed struggling to maintain his composure.
