Taking Her Away

"Ella Jackson's urgent voice pierced the snowy night with alarming clarity, "Avery, Avery, what's wrong? Stop fighting, she's passed out." Her anxious cries instantly drew the attention of two men, causing them to halt their brawl and turn around.

"Avery!"

"Avery Miller!"

Simultaneously, they released each other and rushed towards Avery Miller.

"What happened to her?" Derek Mason was the first to reach her side, his voice laden with concern.

Ethan Montgomery quickly followed, brushing Derek Mason aside with a determined stride. With his uninjured hand, he scooped Avery Miller into his arms, "We're leaving." He carried her off, heading towards his car with purposeful steps.

"What are you doing? Let her go!" Derek Mason's shoulder was firmly gripped by him, "You can't take her away!"
