Avery Miller, startled, leaned back to avoid the splatter of sauce fromMr. Yamada's unfortunate tumble.

 

Mr. Johnson, utterly humiliated on his own turf, looked utterly crestfallen, tears in his eyes but not quite spilling over. He babbled something indecipherable to Avery, only managing to articulate a pitiful, "I'm really having a tough time!" which almost made Avery burst into laughter.
