A Matter of Life and Death

All these sounds and images flooded her ears and mind, like a relentless horror movie playing on repeat.

 

"It's okay, it's okay. We'll be fine soon, trust me," Mr. Yamada reassured her gently, keeping his focus on the road.

 

The car had finally left the danger zone and entered the crowded city streets.

 

"They won't follow us here. Don't worry, we'll be safe," Mr. Yamada said, feeling a pang of empathy for her obvious distress. He had faced gunfights before, but never had he felt so worried and helpless, because this time, the person he cared about was with him.

 

If he made it out alive today, those terrorists wouldn't get away with this, Mr. Yamada vowed silently, his eyes narrowing with fierce determination. He kept his gaze fixed on the road ahead as if he could see the terrorists in front of him.

 

"I won't let them get away with this," he muttered to himself.
