THE REGENERATING BONE SHIELDS

THE REGENERATING BONE SHIELDS

"Are you sure this boy is merely an apprentice? His strength is comparable to some of us", a Master Conjurer told the rest.

"What I wonder is, who will accept him as their apprentice?" Conjurer Iras said to them.

"This Oriese is out of control. Nobody will accept him as their apprentice", another conjurer added.

"Our sect is strong enough to control this smart kid who only acts tough. We have many masters who will be able to discipline an apprentice like him", Conjurer Ivior said to them.

"However, I doubt this boy will accept any of us as his conjurer master", Conjurer Iras said to them.

"He must. He came to become an apprentice conjurer. He needs a master to guide and open the way for him", Conjurer Ivior told them.

-------

"Did he send all ninety-eight participants to the hospital just like that?" someone from the audience asked.

"What kind of monster is he?" a scared spectator cried out in fear.

"Did he have the ability to hide his magic tier?" Someone suggested something that was worth considering.

"Is he a genius or a demon? Or an apostle?", the crowd argued amongst themselves to no conclusive conclusion.

"He is the Harbinger of Doom, Monster of the Conjurer Court, Bully of Starri city", was the conclusion of everyone who viewed my battle against the ninety-nine.

Although the spectators had a field day of comments, I couldn't be bothered with them.

"Well, if that's all then we are done here, it's time for dinner", I told the judges.

But the battle hasn't ended for me, yet.

"I'll challenge you to a fair fight", Kolgane the second ranked challenged me suddenly.

"Well let's be speedy about it then. Steaks don't wait for people", I told the judges from the audition.

-----

Kolgane wasn't like the rest of the challengers.

In terms of magical tier, he was ahead of almost every other participant here. He was the only Saturn tier among all the apprentices. A Saturn tier was at least ten times stronger than someone at the peak of Jupiter tier.

This guy was not a pushover.

He wasn't stupid either because he waited for all the other participants to challenge me first to check out my abilities before making the challenge.

He must believe he could beat me before he would make a challenge against me. Like the other participants before him, he simply stood there.

Kolgane conjured a shield made from shiny white bones.

He wasn't going to shoot a projectile at me because that was fruitless and he wouldn't run into me, to be grabbed by my magical rails.

His strategy was to hole up in a position comfortable to himself, entrenching on the grounds of the arena, waiting for me to make the first move.

But doing that was stupid unless I knew what I was dealing with here.

"Hey, stop standing there and start fighting", someone from the spectators shouted out to us.

"Aren't you the Bully of Starri, bully that fella", another person added.

"Yeah, why are you afraid of this one, you were so arrogant against the others", a third person opined and shouted out his mind to me.

The mob was putting pressure on me.

Although I wasn't affected by them nor do I care much about what they think, this was after all a duel, and we can't stand around doing nothing forever.

"Alright, you win the eye blinking contest", I told Kolgane as I made the first move.

I cast a fiery flame toward Kolgane.

"Yes, the Starfire Flash", Orol shouted out from the audience when he saw me conjuring the Kolgane family's special magic.

The Starfire Flash wasn't my strongest magic, but it was one that could open the battle and I could gauge Kolgane's reaction to it.

"Boom…Kaboom"

The conjuration cast a fiery beam at Kolgane but it didn't even dent his shield even a little which shocked me. The energy of my Starfire flash was absorbed by his shield.

Although Starfire Flash wasn't my strongest projectile attack, it was deadly in my hands because my magic was strong. I was shocked that it did nothing to a Saturn tier templar.

"What the hell is that shield?" I asked myself.

"Boom…Kaboom"

A second shot from my Starfire Flash hit him again, but it did nothing much to his shield as well.

Suddenly Kolgane retaliated with his own magic, as spurts of burning bones shot out of him. The bones propelled towards me quickly, but I didn't use my chaos field this time. I merely evaded the burning bones with my dexterity and the speed of my Solomon Move.

-----

"Why did he have to evade the projectiles of this skeleton guy? He didn't evade the magic from the ninety eight", a Master Conjurer asked among themselves about my evasive maneuvers.

"Perhaps the skeleton burning spears are special, that he couldn't avoid them", another added.

"Or he simply didn't want to use the same magic all the time", Conjurer Iras said to them.

"You Control templars are hard to figure out, always doing things on your whims", Conjurer Ivior told Iras.

"That is the essence of control, unpredictability. If it was so easily predicted, the opponent wouldn't be easily controlled", Conjurer Iras said to them.

-----

In the eyes of the audience, the battle turned against me.

I was busily fending the burning spears cast by Kolgane, while Kolgane was comfortable in his spot, simply conjuring his magic.

"Starfire Flash"

However, I wasn't only evading Kolgane.

I fired my magic at him occasionally, to test the strength of his shields. Kolgane's shields absorbed all my harmful magic without a shred of damage, which was unusual and strange.

"Starfire flash"

"This bloody shield is regenerating itself quickly", I said to myself about Kolgane's bone shields.

Kolgane's conjured bone shield could regenerate itself quickly, too quickly.

"There is something wrong with his shields", I asked Sara on my wristband.

I needed Sara to help me confirm something, so I called her with my wristband.
