LOOKING FOR A MASTER

LOOKING FOR A MASTER

"Who do you think you are boy? Do you think none of us are comparable to you?" a conjurer asked me angrily.

"Write it on the paper. Apprentice champion rejects all the useless Conjurers in the Conferment Ceremony", I shouted to the reporters of the Herald Times without replying to the angry guy.

"Oriese, behave yourself for once", Orol shouted to me from the audience.

The Conjurers were about to attack me for my rude behavior, when Conjurer Iras said to me, "You can't become an apprentice without a master".

"Yes, those are the rules of the Conjurer Court. You will forfeit this apprenticeship if you do not recognize one of us as your master and given your attitude, none of us here will accept you as their disciple", Conjurer Ivior said to me threateningly.

"There is no need. I already have a master", I said to them to their shock and surprise.

"How is it possible? We have no record of any conjurers taking you as their disciple", a conjurer said to me.

"Do you have any way to prove that you are a conjurer's disciple and which conjurer is that?" Conjurer Ivior said to me.

"What do you need as proof?" I asked them.

"Well, having the conjurer here to vouch for you is the best proof. In the absence of that, if you can show us the unique magic signature or emblem of your conjurer, that will also be acceptable", Conjurer Iras said to me.

I was accepted by Conjurer Greenduff, a wandering conjurer in the Ten-Kingdoms. He couldn't be located or found after the wars that devastated most of Nymera kingdom.

I have a letter from Greenduff proving that I was his apprentice, but that letter was addressed to me, Orion, and not Oriese. So, I have no proof that I was a conjurer's apprentice.

I thought about the matter for a brief moment.

"Use that bloody sign in the Temple of Magic", Sara reminded me suddenly on my wristband.

Then I knew what to do.

"I have the unique emblem, the signature of my master", I told the conjurers.

"Every conjurer has their own unique emblems. Usually, these emblems would be inherited by their disciples. Upon their maturity and becoming conjurers, those emblems would be altered slightly to signify an inheritor", Conjurer Iras explained to us about the significance of magic emblem.

"I only have the emblem of my line of Conjurers, not my own. I am not a conjurer yet", I said to them.

"Fine, if you can cast the emblem of your conjurer line, we will acknowledge you as an apprentice of our Conjurer Court", Conjurer Iras said to me.

Suddenly, magical lines appeared in the air before us before a unique design materialized. Soon, the emblem on the door of the Temple of Magic was summoned before us.

To my shock, all the conjurers there quickly bowed to my emblem in respect.

"What the hell is happening here?" I asked them.

"Oh, don't you know who your Conjurer Master is, apprentice?" Conjurer Iras asked me.

"I only know of him as a wandering conjurer", I replied to him.

"And this emblem is unaltered. This is the emblem of one of the Original Supreme", a conjurer added.

"No wonder your magic is so spectacular. You are a descendant of one of our original Supreme Conjurers", Conjurer Iras told me to my surprise.

"A Supreme Conjurer?" I asked him again.

"The Supreme Conjurers are the founders of templar magic and the Conjurer Court. All of the Supremes have either returned to Prolis, the world where magic originated, or wandered the world", Conjurer Iras told me.

"Then who are the Supreme Conjurers here in the Conjurer Court?" I asked him.

"The Supreme Conjurers in the Conjurer Court now are the disciple descended from the original Supremes, and you are one of them", Conjurer Iras told me.

Originally, I conjured the emblem that was in Greenduff's scroll in the heat of the moment, to answer the allegations of the conjurers and prove my apprenticeship. However, I never expected Greenduff to be more than a wandering conjurer.

He could be one of the legendary and original Supreme Conjurers of the land, or not.

"No wonder he is such a snob, he is the disciple of one of our Supreme Conjurers who went wandering", a conjurer said out loud.

"I dread the day he will become a Supreme", another added.

"Becoming a Supreme is not easy. Given his penchant to inflame others, it is a miracle he will be alive to become a Supreme", Conjurer Ivior told the rest before they all left, leaving me behind with Conjurer Iras.

"I didn't know my master was a Supreme Conjurer", I said to Conjurer Iras.

"And by the way, you are not at the Earth tier of magic are you? Even the original Supreme couldn't conjure magic like you if they were at that level", Conjurer Iras asked me.

"I hid my magic tier when I go about. The Church of All-seeing are hunting templars with extra-ordinary abilities", I replied to him.

"I see. No wonder. And you are also someone with special affinities?" he asked me.

"How do you know?" I asked him.

"An Original Supreme wouldn't accept you as his disciple if you didn't have a special affinity and if I must speculate, you have the strongest of the affinities, the Angel Affinity, although that affinity is very difficult to develop up to your level of magic", Conjurer Iras told me to my shock.

"Damnit, this guy can see through me", I complained to myself.

"This guy's micro expressions don't suggest any harm to you", Sara told me suddenly.

Sara was eavesdropping on our conversation, and she commented to me on my earphone that was connected to my wristband.

"But if this guy can speculate about that, the other conjurers would suspect the same too", I told her.

"Those other guys' micro-expressions say they want to kill you", Sara replied to me.

"Damn", I cursed to myself.

"There is no need to worry about the Church of All-seeing once you receive your badge. As the apprentice of the Conjurer Court, the Church has no jurisdiction over you", Conjurer Iras told me.

"That is a comfort", I replied to him.
