THE SPIRIT OF AROTHAR

THE SPIRIT OF AROTHAR

The forty-plus knights who came to battle stood as the pinnacle of strength among the noble families' new generation of Knight Templars.

Blessed with the finest training, supplemented by costly medicines and equipment, and perhaps even adorned with divine artifacts, they were formidable adversaries.

Their conjurations were mighty, summoning forth a spectacle of power that illuminated the sky with arcane circles and symbols. From these manifestations emerged weapons of destruction: swords, spears, arrows, and more shapes and forms, all poised to annihilate their foes, us.

Yet, we were not without defenses.

With beams of light that could freeze and also burn, a colossal fiery Sword of Brimstone conjured from the ether, and vast mirrors that erupted outward, we countered the onslaught of our adversaries' conjurations.

As the magic of the opposing forces clashed, the sky erupted into a dazzling display of magic and fireworks. Even the spectators had to retreat to safer distances, lest they be caught in the crossfire of the titanic clashes of magic.

"This is an epic fight thus far, but the Bully hasn't even made a move yet", someone from the audience said.

"He doesn't have to do anything. He is the Bully. His bodyguards will fight for him", another added his opinion.

"Where did the Bully of Starri get these powerful legendary tiered bodyguards? Even the top knights of Drachia may not be their match in power and magic", a third commentator added.

"Oriese, fight with us fairly. Don't hide behind your bodyguards", a knight shouted to me although I don't know his name.

In fact, I don't know any of these knights at all or even their names.

"You may approach me if you can stand against my bodyguards", I replied to the nameless knights.

Although we were outnumbered by almost ten to one, we were pretty capable. All my bodyguards received magic from the Immortal essence of the Anti-Saints, so their magic was around Legendary Yellow ranking, starting levels, if measured by the Conjurer Court's legendary rankings.

The knights that we were fighting against were many but most of them haven't reached the legendary scale yet.

The knights were also less proficient in long range magic conjurations compared to most conjurers. They were better at individual combat than in a group fight between magic users.

"We can't defeat them with magic conjurations. They are powerful conjurers. We must get close for personal combat", one of the knights shouted and suggested.

Soon, several knights dashed towards our side of the mountain peaks.

Suddenly, Cassandra swept toward these assailants, quickly slashing them with her mysterious and cursed blade, the Zavalla Blade. The wounds caused by her blades don't heal and the knights bled profusely as a result.

The rest of the knights continued to charge at us, realizing that their best chance against us was to get close. Although Cassandra was a master blades woman, she was the only melee fighter here.

Many knights managed to pass through Cassandra to reach us.

Suddenly, the knights who reached us were stopped as they were about to attack us with their melee prowess. But most of them were lifted into the air by magical chains that locked onto their necks, ankles and wrists.

"Golden Chains of Gold and Restraints"

Ratatouille was waiting for the knights to get close before his chains would catch them.

The knights who could still attack us were down to less than half. They quickly realized that getting close to us was as dangerous as fighting from a safe distance.

In fact, fighting from a distance gave the knights a better chance.

"What are we going to do now?" a knight asked.

"We can't get close to the Bully to hurt him. We summon our strongest conjurations to attack them", someone added.

"We were doing that already before we lost half our numbers", another knight added.

"If you have backups use them now", one of the knights shouted out.

But the knights have exhausted all their magic and even artifacts. There was nothing the forty plus knights could do to stop my legendary bodyguards.

"There is one last move that we can do", someone suggested.

"What move? Tell us now", another asked him.

"We can summon an avatar through group strengthening", he suggested.

"We would not go so low. The avatar summoning is for rankless knights. We are the champions, we do not resort to these lowly tactics", a knight proudly protested the suggestion.

"We have no choice if we are to win this battle with the Bully", another knight added.

"We need permission from up there", the guy who protested told them.

"The fight is not going well for the knights of the families. This Bully upstart's bodyguards are too strong for our young knights", a prince told the table of princes, sitting on a special pavilion above the battleground.

"Prince Demos, these children are already doing their best. There is not much that they could do against legendary ranked beings", another prince said to Demos.

"Prince Macralli, we need to do something. We can't lose this fight. The pride of the House of Nobles is at stake. The Knight Templar Academy must be subjugated to the major families, there is no exception", Prince Demos told Macralli.

"Maybe we should let the top knights fight", Princess Figenia told them.

"That would be a loss to our prestige if we need to use our best knights to deal with this Bully", Prince Demos said to them.

Suddenly, someone came to report something to the Princes and Princesses.

"What is the matter?" Princess Figenia asked the servant.

"The knights requests permission to summon an Avatar", the servant replied to them.

"The knights usual Avatar is much stronger, but it is still no match for legendary beings", Prince Macralli replied to him.

"Unless they use this", Prince Demos told them as he handed the servant, a statue of a shining knight.

"Demos, you are loaning them the Spirit of Arothar?" Princess Figenia asked Prince Demos.

"So be it, the pride of the House of Noble is at stake", Prince Macralli told them.
