AMBUSH THE GREY AND CRAWLING

AMBUSH THE GREY AND CRAWLING

The enemy suffered from our conjured beams, but they couldn't retaliate against us because we were already out of their firing range.

"Cowards, we chase them", the General of Grey told his men as they marched toward us.

A short time after our retreat, we returned to fire another round of infernal blasts at the enemies as they closed their distance to us, before retreating again.

The enemies' armies were powerful, but they were slow moving because their army consisted of many different types of personnel.

There were cavalry types which were quick but there were also the bulk of them who marched slowly without mounts.

There were also many Demonlords who had wings that made them fly, but the Demonlords would not go far from the main army in battle in case they were ambushed by the enemies. The Demonlords were the most valuable players in a demon army.

So, the enemy couldn't catch up to us quickly enough every time we retreated.

Our repeated attacks on the enemy sapped their morale and wounded and killed many of their ranks without any casualties on our part.

"This is not going well for us. Our army is large, we cannot chase a small nimble army forever", The General Crawling told the General of Grey.

The Grey and Crawling realized we were fighting with a hit and run tactic against their regular army which was disadvantageous to them.

So, they decided to change tactics.

"Cavalry Charge"

Suddenly about a thousand Hellriders charged toward our Hellhound riders while a few dozen Demonlords rose into the air, hovering in the sky to support them.

The Grey and Crawling felt that they would be disadvantaged if they must keep down with the regular armies' speed. They needed to use their fastest forces to attack us.

"Will it be risky if our Demonlords and Hellhound riders chased the enemy?" The General of Grey asked.

"They only have five hundred riders and we have much more than that even after excluding the regular army. There is nothing to worry about", General of the Crawling army told the General of Grey.

So, the enemy's riders and Demonlords charged toward our Hellhound riders.

Suddenly, many of the riders on our Hellhounds rose into the air to face the Demonlords of the Grey and Crawling. Having the presence of Demonlords faced with each other slowed the chase for the Grey and Crawling.

While the Demonlords of both opposing armies tackled each other in the air, the Hellhound riders of the Grey and Crawling closed in to our riders.

The route to our castle was mountainous and the main road was a magma flowing canyon.

The cavalry and Demonlords of the Grey and Crawling chased our Hellhound riders into the canyon.

The canyon has rough terrains made from sharp broken rocks that were surrounded by narrow peaks. The terrain hindered the speed of the Grey and Crawling's army's chase.

But our riders knew the route well, so they were not hindered too much by the rough terrain. The Grey and Crawling on the other hand were moving slowly into the canyon.

Eventually, the enemies reached where we wanted them to be, in a narrow canyon between two high peaks on the sides.

Our Hellhound riders now stopped behind a line of entrenched stones and Hell rocks that we prepared in this place earlier.

"Infernal Beams of Suffering"

Our Demons started firing their infernal beams on the approaching enemy, while being protected by the entrenchments.

The enemy cavalry was stopped by our attack and took position in the canyon to retaliate against us.

Although our entrenchment in the canyon gave us an edge, we were outnumbered by the cavalry of the Grey and Crawling, and soon, their slow-moving infantry force reached the cavalry to join them in their fight.

"Finally, we reached the enemy and they have nowhere to run", the General of Grey said.

Suddenly the peaks that surrounded the canyon where the combined armies of Grey and Crawling were positioned burst out with thousands of fiery infernal blasts that were aimed at them.

"We are being ambushed. This is a trap", the General of Crawling told them.

"We must retreat", the Grey General sounded a retreat and the General of Crawling agreed with him.

Suddenly, to their shock and horror, the demons in their army couldn't move. Their legs were heavy being pulled down by an unknown force. The armies of Grey and Crawling were kept in place by a mystical gravity force.

"What is this magic that stopped our movements?" The General of Crawling asked but there was no answer to his question.

More of our demons appeared from the surrounding peaks, to fire their infernal beams on the combined armies of the Grey and Crawling who were trapped by a mysterious gravity.

"This pulling force will not stop all of us", the General of Grey said to them.

While the gravity that pulled down the regular armies of the Grey and Crawling immobilized them, the stronger demons were less affected. The Demonlords rose into the air to escape from the ambush, although that would mean abandoning their regular armies to the mercy of the enemy.

-----

"The demons are firing their infernal beams on us", Epius said to the Control Freaks.

"My force shield will hold the fire for a time. Hopefully the battle above us will resolve before my shield is exhausted", Iras told them.

"Bang…Kaboom"

The Greater Demons who were trapped in the valley continued firing their magical beams on the Control Freaks. They realized by now that their immobility was caused by them.

Our demons who ambushed the enemy were mostly brought on our Hell Tanks to fight in the air with the Demonlords of the enemy, leaving few defenders to support the Control Freak.

"Arggghhhhhh"

Iviar shouted out in pain as he blocked an infernal beam that managed to get through Iras' force field while Illiwyn quickly healed him with her healing magic.

"This bloody demon beam is too vicious", Iviar complained.
