BETTING WITH AN I.O.U.

BETTING WITH AN I.O.U.

"That is more reason we should tread with care", I replied to the apostle.

"What do you think is the demon conspiracy?" Apostle Greer asked me for my opinion.

"The demons want the Church and the noble families to be at odds, so we won't be able to support the Church in its wars with the demons. This dark magic laced wine could be the trigger of an unnecessary inquisition. That will weaken the alliance between the church and the noble families", I explained to him of my opinion.

The Apostle thought about the conspiracy for a moment.

"Duke Oriese is right. We should tread on this with care. We don't want to cause panic in the city when the demon army is scheming at our door", Apostle Greer told his expert.

"What do you know, this Spiros managed to get enough Aurs to wager on the fight with you in the Magic Arena", Ratatouille informed me suddenly.

"That is not surprising, if Ennea is the Blood Queen", I replied to him.

"He even came up with the money in cash, not titles to properties", he added.

"The Blood Queen is rich, probably as rich as me, hahaha", I replied to him and laughed.

"She'll never be richer than me though, hahaha", Ratatouille replied to me and continued laughing.

"Are you really going to fight Spiros in the Magic Arena, Master? What if the Bloodfiend tries to frame you for using Blood magic? The Church will arrest you," Meera asked me.

"It is not easy for the Bloodfiend to pull that off in the Magic Arena with all the conjurers and enchantments there", I replied to her.

"But the bitch must have a plan if she comes out with the large wager. She must have", Rinna said to me.

"What could the Blood Queen's plan be?" Melroy asked us curiously.

"Who knows?" I replied to him.

"Do we have to go to Amelia to ask for a billion Aurs?" Ratatouille asked me.

"That is not necessary", I replied to him.

"Then what are you going to wager with Prince Spiros? We don't have that much money in the Kaleon family's coffers", Ratatouille asked me.

"I'll write him a cheque. An I.O.U", I replied to him.

"I owe you? what the hell is that?" he repeated and asked.

"Are you sure he will accept that?" Cassandra asked me in surprise.

"He wants the fight, not me. He'll take it or leave it", I replied to them.

"You are a real Bully. They bet with you with real money, you bet with a piece of paper", Melroy said to me.

"They don't call me the Bully of Starri city for nothing", I replied to him.

------

My fight with Prince Spiros in the Magic Arena of Tarah city proceeded as planned.

Spiros accepted, albeit reluctantly, my wager which was a promise to pay, an I.O.U., while he deposited a billion Aur at the Magic Arena.

Prince Spiros was at the peak of his magic, the beginning of Uranus tier, whose magic was considered the equivalent to the Legendary Apostles, even without the need to test his prowess on the machines of the Conjurer Court of Drachia.

Only those lacking templar magic would need to prove themselves to become ranked as legendary. Prince Spiros doesn't need such proof. He was already considered a Legendary being by virtue of his magic tier alone.

I on the other hand, was proven to be still at the peak of Earth tier.

"This is the fight of the century", someone said and commented in the floating pavilions.

"Prince Spiros is the top ranked Knight on the Knight Templar Academy ranking. He is the strongest knight in Drachia kingdom of his generation", another added.

"The Bully is not weak either. He defeated the Number Three in the same ranking so effortlessly, the last time", another added.

"The Number Three cannot be considered in the same league as the Number One, the Champion", a third person commented.

"We'll see who wins but one thing is for sure, Prince Spiros is the more motivated one to win this. His reputation is at stake if he doesn't defeat the guy who slept with his fiancé in her wet dreams", another added and summed.

"Hahaha, Eunuch", they all laughed after hearing that.

------

Prince Spiros wasted no time upon entering the enchanted arena, swiftly ascending into the air to unleash his powerful conjurations.

Like a symphony of sorcery, hundreds of magical fists materialized, each brimming with immense power.

The impact of just one of these ethereal fists was akin to being struck by a colossal meteor, capable of reducing a towering building to rubble. As the magical onslaught unfolded, I couldn't help but ponder whether the grounds of the magic arena could endure the relentless barrage.

Then, in an instant, the torrent of magical fists surged towards me.

Yet, rather than succumbing to fear, I remained steadfast as the ground beneath me trembled and fractured under the force of Spiros's conjurations.

Before long, the once-elevated and floating platform of the arena lay in ruins, shattered by the relentless assault of his magical might.

With the arena reduced to rubble, the battleground shifted to the clouds above.

However, much to Spiros's astonishment, I stood unwavering within the confines of what remained of the arena, unscathed by his most formidable attack.

His strongest incantation had proven futile against me. I remained untouched, a testament to my resilience in the face of his magical onslaught.

------

"What kind of cheat are you using this time? How can my Meteor fists not kill you, bastard", Prince Spiros screamed to me.

"Didn't you watch my fight with that Prince Bion of Gamanos. I have a Lantern of Chaos. Nothing that you summon will ever hit me", I replied to him with a smile.

The Lantern of Chaos was an unexpected find in the Auction Halls of the Noten family. Amelia immediately recognized its use and bought it for me.

The Lantern of Chaos wasn't as effective as my chaos magic. By itself it would not affect Spiros' magic by much. However, nobody really know how effective was the lantern and they would never guess the one emitting the chaos magic wasn't the artifact but me.

"He is cheating with the use of Divine Artifact", Prince Spiros screamed to the referee thinking that the Lantern of Chaos was the thing that affected his powerful meteor fists.

"The use of artifacts are allowed in the Magic Arena", the referee replied to him.

"Breaking the arena grounds is not allowed by the rules though", I said to the referee.

"Yes, we will claim compensation for the broken Arena from the Demetriodes family. They signed a bond to that effect with us", the referee replied to me.

"I will kill you", Spiros screamed at me as an enormous fist like conjuration appeared before him again.
