About Time

The dealer obeyed. A card floated down, landing before him. His eyes darted to the total. Seventeen. He hesitated. If he asked for another, he risked busting. But if he stood, Hunter might outplay him.

"Your move," Hunter said, voice laced with amusement.

The clone exhaled sharply. "I'll stay."

The other clone smirked. "Coward. Hit me."

The dealer complied. A five. The clone let out a satisfied chuckle. "Twenty-one."

Hunter let out a low whistle. "Not bad, not bad."

Then, all eyes turned to him. He hadn't played his move yet. He casually flipped over his cards. A jack and a seven. Seventeen.

"Hit me," he said without hesitation.

The dealer slid him a card. A four.

Twenty-one.

The victorious clone's smirk vanished. The nervous one let out a sigh, knowing what came next.

Hunter leaned back, stretching his arms. "Well, that was fun."
