"Remember," Barrett gives me a grin as I leave work the next day. "Rub one out before she comes over. That way you won't be so nervous."
"Shut the fuck up. You act like I've never been on a date in my life. I have had a relationship before, you know? Just not one I considered lasting the rest of my life."
He bends his eyebrows together, disbelief across his face. "Freshman year of college? C'mon, kiss my ass. You were with her because it was the first time you could have a girl in your room without this one knocking every five minutes." He hitches a thumb back at my dad.
"Not true," I argue. "She was the first, and only girl, I've ever said the "L" word to. She just had bigger dreams than Broken Falls."
"As evidenced by her Instagram feed," Dad interjects. "Did you see she's in Fiji?"
"Yes." Both Barrett and I answer. "Jealous as fuck," I shove my hands in my jeans pockets. "We're freezing ass and she's barely dressed."
