Chapter 7

Daniel's body trembled. He clenched the phone so tight, that his knuckles turned white. He zoomed the picture several times and he wasn't mistaken.

The woman laying on the body of a man was his wife, his very own Amelia. How dare she? He tried severally to catch sight of the man's face but it wasn't fruitful. The man's face was hidden under the dark nightshades. Also, what was she doing at a bridge?

His anger rose to the sky, and his breathing turned unstable. He felt an unfamiliar ache clenching his heart.

Swiping through the pictures, his voice came out in a low, dangerous growl, "How did you find this? I drove the whole city searching for her a_"

"Oh please!" Diana cut him off, with a dramatic wave of her hand. She rolled her eyes and claimed back on the bed, "You and I know those words are lies. You have never cared about her. So what made you think I'll believe you when you said you searched for her?" She asked.

Daniel's jaw clenched and he dropped the phone before him in defeat. He bowed his head in deep thought, ran his fingers through his hair, and let out a long breath.

Yes, he didn't care about her but he wanted to know where she could be and who she was with. Is she safe? What if the person isn't someone to be trusted? Has she calmed down? Did she find someone to comfort her the way he never could?

All these questions ran through his mind, and he became more restless. He doesn't love her, yes. But no matter what, he wants her around him. He was beginning to regret everything.

He almost ran crazy when he returned to the hospital only to find out that she was missing. At that moment, he wanted to lay his fists on someone. However, she escaped it.

He wants her to be the mother of his kids. She possesses all the good qualities he would want his future kids to inherit. How was she even able to hide her pregnancy from him that long until she lost it?

His body jolted and he raised his hands to his face. He forgot how to breathe when he remembered how hard he hit her two days ago and in the hospital bed. The scene haunted him and he wondered if he had a hand in his child's dismissal.

"Fool," he cursed bitterly, "That dumb woman, that useless piece of shit. How dare she?"

Diana raised her brow at his words with a sly smile at the corner of her lips.

"Is she still innocent?" She asked curiously, messing with his pathetic mind as she played with her long red nails.

Daniel turned to Diana. He waited for her to look at him. And when she met his eyes, he said confidently, "She is. Amelia would never lie, not even to save herself. If she says she never committed a crime, I would believe her. If you like, show me life evidence. The moment she says she did no such thing, I'll take her words over a thousand evidence,"

Diana's jaw fell.

Daniel picked up his pillow and dropped down from the bed, "Have a good rest. I'll see you in the morning," with those words, he walked towards the door and left the room.

Her eyes moisturized, tears ready to leave them. She felt humiliated beyond words. She expected the baby's dismissal to bring them closer, so what was this?

What's with all these strange words from Daniel? Is he all right or mentally ill?

She clenched her fists so tight, her fingers digging into her palm, drawing blood from them. She aggressively wiped off the red lipstick from her lips with the back of her palm.

"You'll pay for this, Amelia," she swore. Her eyes bulged out red, and her veins popped out of her neck.

Her black eyes became calculating and began to search around the room. A slow smirk graced her lips. Once again, she felt proud of herself.

"Ahh!" she let out a breath of relief and jumped off the bed, "Finally, I can wear what rightfully belongs to me,"

Her hips swayed majestically towards the small black drawer just beside the entrance of the door and opened the first one. In it was a small white ring box.

Her eyes shone in delight. Carefully, she picked up the box and scanned it beautifully.

"Tch…" she clicked her tongue scornfully, "What made her think she would live so long in this house? After this engagement ring, soon I'll have her wedding ring, and then, I'll become the Queen of Daniel's empire," she chuckled maniacally. Her fingers hesitantly opened the box, and when the small diamond ring came forth, her troubled mind calmed down.

"Amelia's engagement ring," she muttered, like one craving something as she wore it, "This is beautiful,"

A slight gasp left her lips the next second. The ring did not fit her engagement finger. The ring was smaller than her finger. The thought of Amelia being more slender than her disturbed her.

Changing the ring positions, she wore the ring on her pinky finger. That was the finger it fits perfectly.

The light in her eyes disappeared. Venom replaced the light in her eyes. She took her eyes off the ring on her finger and started ahead.

"Your days of suffering have just begun, Amelia. All you endured here would not equal to what I have planned for you," she promised lowly.

Her glance turned sideways and she asked herself, "Why doesn't he want to marry me yet? He always tells me he loves me more than her, but still this… my fingers are still empty,"

She let out a low huff and dropped on the bed, "I think I should just finish her off earlier. I can't wait to have my happily ever after,"

Her eyes darkened as she picked up her cellphone. Swiping through her call log, she sent a message to an anonymous number.

When the message rang, she pushed her phone away and lay on the bed, waiting for action to be carried out.

…."I hope you tracked her down. Find her and bring her to me. I'll send you a location," the message read.
