James snapped back to reality and roared, "Are you saying I ordered someone to assassinate Diers? How long have you known me, Terence? Do you think I would do such a thing? I'm about to retire. Do you think I enjoy adding more trouble to my life at this point?"
Terence gave a cold laugh. "Haven't you always wanted a promotion?!"
James pried Terence's hand off his arm, one finger at a time, and straightened his disheveled clothes, "Don't talk to me about dreams I had five years ago! How old was I then, and how old am I now? My kid is in college, and you want me to risk my life? My fists aren't even as fast as others' legs! Have I lost all sense of self-preservation?"
Seeing James's angry outburst, Terence found it was somewhat reasonable.
James and Terence, both from the same police academy, later served as detectives in England together. Because of their exceptional performance, they were both pushed into Interpol.
