Their class was unanimously considered the best in their grade, consistently boasting the top three scorers during every exam. So it was no surprise for someone to be ranked first in the entire school, or even first in the grade. But achieving full marks in all nine subjects would be downright incredible.
After all, no matter how good the grades, there were always pitfalls like the English composition and the Chinese composition. Sometimes teachers could be so perverse, begrudgingly finding fault even in essays good enough to be included in a collection of exemplary writings.
