Chapter 31: Fireflies

Elara sat on the log by the fire like a puppet with its strings cut. Her face was covered in shadows. From the depths of the shadows, tears can be seen hitting the ground.

Drip...Drip...Drip

The muffled sound of sobbing can be heard as Elara's shoulders shake.

Crack! Splash!

Moonwater began to fall down Elara's face as she was covered in the small vial's worth of enchanted water. Her head shot up as tears streamed down her face, mixing with the Moonwater.

"AIDEN!!!" Elara screamed. Almost falling, she stands up, grabbing her satchel. Rushing off after Aiden into the forest's darkness, leaving behind the clearing with a pure white rabbit and a broken vial in its paws.

.....

With great haste, Elara ran into the darkness of the Whispering woods. The chirping of the crickets becomes distorted as if they became hollow. The darkness of the night pervaded through the trees as if stalked by a predator.
