After marriage—
On Valentine's Day, Han Jingnian asked, "How are we spending today?"

Han Jingnian allowed Xia Wan'an to speak uninterrupted, attentively listening to her temp ramblings, until her words dwindled and she stopped. He then spoke, "That won't happen."


"I won't be late..." Han Jingnian's voice was calm and light, yet held a rare determination, "I will never be late."


Just as how I can never leave you alone, no matter where I am or what I'm doing, as long as you need me, I will overcome all hurdles and reach your side.


A glimmer of surprise flashed in Xia Wan'an's eyes, quickly followed by innocent unease. After a small struggle, she asked softly, "Forever?"


"Yes, forever." Han Jingnian answered with unwavering certainty, without a hint of hesitation.


Xia Wan'an didn't say anything but moved closer into Han Jingnian's embrace.
