While on the way back to his dorm room, Jareth was contemplating in his mind about what happened at the principal's office.
'Shin Isaz, a grade 2 ice mage… he is one of the few supporting characters of the mid-stage of the game...'
Except for when he is around Jareth, he has a gentle and benevolent personality. Most of the students like him a lot due to his kind personality.
He is the literal opposite of Jareth.
Jareth is cold and arrogant; Shin is kind and gentle. Jareth is a fire mage and Shin is a frost mage.
Both of them have studied at the university at the same and have been rivals for a long time now.
Shin was famous for his magical talent and Jareth was famous for his academic talent. Both used to be rivals at one time.
Shin thought of Jareth as a rival due to Jareth's good grades, on the other hand, Jareth was busy finding ways to exact his revenge and thus he never noticed Shin's presence much.
Later, their rivalry became so huge they both started to curse at each other every time they met. And this has been going on for a while now.
Shin joined the university as a professor one year earlier than Jareth and thus his seat number is 12.
'All this was not explained in the game lore; I only found out after gaining Jareth's memories…'
'Well, it's a good thing I gained those memories back, otherwise, I would have never known why this guy was being rude to me…'
Jareth shook his head and continued to move slowly.
His slow and steady steps seem to show his relaxed and leisurely mood.
'As for that new dungeon… that thing is also a starting event… it is the place where the protagonist finally gets to see the capabilities of the principal for the first time…'
Originally, Nathan would have gone with the students to that dungeon. But now this task has fallen on Jareth and Shin. They are both like water and fire; they can't stay together.
'It's going to be a headache to put up with that guy… sigh~'
'It seems I would need to go and make some preparation before going to that dungeon… going there without any proper items would be quite bad for my health…'
'Since there is still a week's worth of time before the dungeon raid, I should try to make some thorough preparations…'
…
University's backyard garden.
"Allen, look, this bird is injured… we need to get it to a healing magician quickly!"
Airin's voice was filled with sadness and concern.
"Yes, let's go; it seems to be in quite a bad state…"
Under a large tree, Airin picked up an injured Bird in her hands. She had a concerned look on her. Her light green hair swayed in the wind and her golden pupil shone with concern in them.
Allen had a helpless look on his face, he knew that Airin had always been like this. She has a gentle and caring personality, she can't ignore the sight of the little bird bleeding.
And thus he didn't stop her and went with her to the healing mage's office.
Airin is a wood magician and has always been quite close to nature. Her magic is gentle and calm, just like her personality.
…
After a while, they got the little bird healed and the bird flew away the moment it felt like it had recovered.
The healing mage looked at the flying bird and said,
"It must have been attacked by an eagle; it had claw marks on its neck, Well, now that you guys helped in saving it, it seems to be going back to its nest…"
The Mage looked at the two with a concerned look on his face and said in a serious tone:
"It's getting late, kids, you shouldn't wander around this time, hurry back to your dorm rooms now…"
"Understood!" (Allen and Airin said in a united tone.)
After thanking the mage, both of them went out of the office and walked off to their dorms.
"The healing mage seems to be a kind person, it seems…"
"Yeah…"
Just when the two were on their way back, a huge lion jumped down from the sky and blocked their way forward.
*GRRRRRR*
The lion glared at the two and its low-pitched growl made them both terrified in an instant.
"W-what!? Where did this huge Lion come from out of nowhere!?"
Airin was so terrified by the killing intent of that monstrosity that her legs gave out and she immediately fell on the ground with a thud sound.
"T-this is a shadow lion… a Grade 3 beast!!"
…
(Monster description.)
[Specie name: Shadow Lion]
[Description: A rare species of magic beasts, shadow lions are rarely ever seen in the world. They are so rare that seeing one is like winning a lottery. There have been only three recorded sightings of this species across the globe.]
[Abilities: An adult Shadow lion is at least a grade 3 beast and can be extremely difficult to fight.
Its shadow-lurking abilities make it an extremely dangerous foe during the night. It can use shadows to hide its body and attack at an extremely fast speed.]
[Note: If you are below grade 2, don't try to fight an adult Shadow Lion and immediately retreat as far as possible.]
…
During the previous theory class, Jareth had already taught everything about this 'Shadow Lion' to the students because he already knew that it would appear in front of the students.
He wanted to let them know about it beforehand.
Due to that class, both Allen and Airin knew about this 'shadow lion' and were shocked to see this extremely rare creature appearing there.
Just when they both thought that the beast was about to attack them, a calm and old voice resounded throughout the area.
"Oi! Yoma! I told you not to scare the students! What are you doing!"
The Lion immediately calmed down after hearing Nathan's angry voice.
Nathan appeared in front of the two students out of thin air. His old face had a helpless look on it.
He glanced at the students and said in a helpless tone.
"Uh… Don't be afraid it's my pet Yoma… it doesn't bite! It's a good boy! It just gets a bit moody sometimes that's all…"
Hearing Nathan's voice both Allen and Airin were bewildered, they didn't believe Nathan's words though, and they both knew that if the principal hadn't appeared Yoma would have definitely attacked them.
*Step**Step*
Steady footsteps resounded and a man's figure appeared from the darkness. (It's nighttime right now…)
The man had dark purple hair, and his dark purple pupils shined like gems in the darkness.
Seeing Jareth appearing all of a sudden, Yoma glared at Jareth too.
"Tch! Lowly animal…"
Obviously, Jareth was an arrogant guy, he wouldn't let a mere animal glare at himself like that.
He pointed his finger towards Yoma.
[Ding! Are you sure you want to use the 'Attack enhancement card (Advanced)']
[Yes or No]
'No!'
Although Jareth's face was cold and arrogant, he didn't dare to waste his triumph card on this mere pet animal; he just used it to scare the animal off.
*Whimper**Whimper*
The lion got scared all of a sudden and immediately hid behind Nathan, its body shook in fear from time to time. (It's a sensitive creature; it sensed its death coming when Jareth was about to use the enhancement card…)
"Oi! Oi! Stop Jareth! That's my pet! Don't scare it like that!"
Hearing Nathan's voice, Jareth shook his head and put his finger down.
"Tch! Keep that animal in check…"
Jareth shook his head and went somewhere else after ignoring the principal and the students altogether.
Nathan glanced at the scared kids and said with a kind smile.
"Jareth must be on the night patrol today, he is a strict guy but has a good heart, and don't worry about it… you guys should hurry back to your dorm rooms now… it's getting late…"
After saying that, Nathan also flew away along with his pet Lion in tow.
Seeing this scene, both Airin and Allen were bewildered beyond words.
Originally they felt helpless against that monster but then two much stronger monsters appeared and made that Lion look weak in front of them.
Allen wiped the sweat from his forehead and only one thought lingered in his mind that day.
'There are many monsters in this university…'
