Chapter 4: All the Sails Have Passed_1

The next day, Su Nian prepared to set up a room next to her bedroom as her personal study. To her, a study was quite necessary.

This room already had bookshelves and a desk and chair, so it mainly needed some rearranging.

The arrangement of the study was simple, with two bookshelves, a desk and chair, and a sofa set.

Everything settled down when Su Nian, supervised the servants in moving the desk near the window.

From a young age, Su Nian liked sitting by the window, especially where she could see the sunrise. She often fantasized about her Prince Charming coming with the sunrise, slowly embracing her and saying, "Don't be afraid, I will protect you."

Even now that she had married Zheng Haoyu, this habit didn't change, because she knew that her Prince Charming was definitely not Zheng Haoyu.

Su Nian asked the butler, Mama Li, if they had any tea. Mama Li, smiling, asked her to wait a moment, and soon brought out a set of tea ware and a box of tea. The glaze color of the tea ware set was mainly sky-blue, with a crackle pattern covering the body of the pot. Su Nian loved it.

As Su Nian was pouring water into the teapot, Zheng Haoyu entered with a heavily made-up woman. Seeing Su Nian in the living room, he snorted coldly and headed straight upstairs, while the woman coolly greeted Su Nian, "Oh, young mistress, you're still in the mood for tea?"

Su Nian ignored her, continuing to rinse the tea a few times, without lifting her head or changing her expression at all.

Seeing that Su Nian was ignoring her, the woman walked over and looked down at Su Nian condescendingly, "Thinking of being the young mistress of the Zheng family, don't you look at yourself first?"

Su Nian poured tea into two cups, looked at Mama Li, and said, "Mama Li, have some tea."

Only then did she slowly put down the teapot, looked the woman up and down a few times, "What I am doesn't matter. What matters is that I don't want to be the young mistress of the Zheng family. That's better than some people who tries very hard to climb up and yet still isn't the young mistress of the Zheng family."

"You..." The woman pointed at Su Nian, flushed with anger. Su Nian worried she might get so upset to the point of suffocation, and suddenly the woman dropped her hand, leaning close to Su Nian's face and said, "Yes, I've had many men, but at the very least, there are still men who desire me. What about you? I guess even if you begged Haoyu, he still wouldn't sleep with you." The woman's eyes were full of contempt.

Provocation, this was barefaced provocation.

Insult, this was outright insult.

Su Nian was undeterred. Nothing could seem to make her angry, "So, as I was saying, you two are really a perfect match." A despicable man paired with a shameless woman!

"Hmph, just you wait," the woman said before she hurried upstairs.

Mama Li watched the two women talk, rather satisfied with the young mistress. The erstwhile mistress had specifically instructed that if the young master and young mistress have a dispute, she should side with the young mistress. But looking at how capable the young mistress seemed now, it didn't seem necessary for her to intervene at all.

"Young Mistress." Su Nian seemed to know what Mama Li was about to say, shook her head, and stopped her from speaking further.

For several days in a row, Zheng Haoyu brought different women home, even allowing them to insult Su Nian.

One day, Su Nian had been busy in the study all afternoon when she left the study, it was already dark. She was just about to go downstairs when she faintly heard strange noises coming from her bedroom. The noise was strange because they shouldn't be coming from her room.

Su Nian quietly walked up to the bedroom door. As expected, the sound was coming from her room. She didn't think twice and kicked the door open on impulse. The two people in the room were startled.

Su Nian slowly stepped inside, leaving the crooked door swaying on its hinges behind her.
