He could hear groans and murmurs as people began to regain consciousness. The roots that had held them captive started to loosen and retreat, releasing their prisoners.

Wuxie watched as Dan and Minjun stirred, their eyes fluttering open. The students from Abyssal Academy and the resilient citizens of Ravenshade were also waking up, bewildered and disoriented.

Dan was the first to fully come to his senses. He looked around, confusion evident on his face. "What... where are we?" he muttered, struggling to free himself from the last of the roots.

Minjun, still groggy, managed to untangle himself and sat up, rubbing his temples. "Wuxie... what happened?" he asked, his voice weak but slowly gaining strength.

As the roots finally released their hold, everyone turned to see Wuxie standing a bit farther from them. The relief was palpable as they realized they were free.
