Black Dahlias 2

IMOGEN'S POV

Elijah glowered at Isaac, his eyes blazing with animosity. He pushed Isaac away and turned to address the onlookers, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "Well, there you have it," he announced, his voice clear and biting. "The secret I've been keeping: I'm ending my marriage. I'm divorcing my wife."

This was exactly what I'd anticipated - the trap I'd set, and he'd fallen right into it. His words lingered in the air as whispers rippled through the crowd. It was unfolding just as I'd planned. Elijah would portray himself as the wronged party, the betrayed spouse. He'd garner sympathy and support from the masses. People were drawn to a victim, especially one as attractive and influential as him. But I had no need for their pity.
