ELIJAH'S POV
The entire plot had collapsed spectacularly, crushing my position in the company despite my controlling stake. All those paranoid nights fretting about Isaac and Imogen conspiring to wrest control had proven meaningless. I'd managed to destroy everything entirely on my own.
Or maybe there was someone to blame. I watched Valentine Sutton pace like a caged animal. His daughter might be in the hospital, but that wasn't what had him coming apart at the seams. Deborah had always been prone to theatrics. No, what had him unraveling was that the pristine Sutton name had been dragged through the mud, his precious daughter's reputation tarnished by association.
Valentine had always played both sides, keeping one foot safely outside this mess while reaping the benefits. But now? Now he was chained to this sinking ship with the rest of us.
