CHAPTER TWELVE: WHITE LOVE

CHAPTER TWELVE: WHITE LOVE

White love?

I just came yesterday, how am I supposed going to understand that when I haven’t even heard of it anywhere

I opened the IPad and checked the textbooks, opened the app and went to the poem title ‘OUT OF THE OCEAN’ since that is where the white love is located in

I opened the chapter White Love and checked what paragraph three says, as soon as I opened the chapter I was welcomed with the definition white love is an open heart where true loves walk I into their shared hearts to express themselves

Okay, I don’t understand that and it is so cringe

I don’t even plan on liking anyone and I think I am okay with admiring others

I checked paragraph three skipping other parts to get to know what the paragraph three says

‘I went to her and asked for what it meant

She went on dictating what it meant

My heart flutters at the sound of her voice

Her voice so sweet like a melodic angel

Like a choir singing praise

I listened to her

Indeed my white heart shall meet with her voice’

Wait… Does it mean that he is going to be saying those words to me?

So cringe and cute, I guess?

What am I thinking of like this?

Christy, snap out of it and focus

“See you on Thursday which is next tomorrow, make sure you all prepare and don’t bother telling your friends that didn’t attend class today because I already have names of students who came to my class” she said as she packed her books and left the class

As soon as she left, the students in the class started discussing on what topic and partner they were given

“Lucky you, you got a gentle guy as your partner” Margaret said as she packed her things into her bag

“I guess so but the topic is cringe, didn’t you hear it?” I asked her as I also packed my things into my backpack

“Yeah, my older sister had a poem like that ‘OUT OF THE OCEAN’ by Akinlade Oluwatobiloba, her pen name is Tush underscore Library, it is quite interesting to read when it is filled with words that will cool one down especially white love which is meant for true lovers, have you read the part of Red love, that one is the one that freaked me out” Margaret explained not minding what I meant as if happy for me to have such partner

“I don’t know what you are talking about but, I got to tell you that I am so uncomfortable about this” I said to her as I zipped my backpack

“You are lucky; do you know who my partner is?” Margaret said as she also zipped her school bag and put it on the table

“Who?” I asked not even having any hint about her partner since I wasn’t listening to anybody’s part except when it was my turn

“Yusuf” she answered

“Who is Yusuf?” I asked finding that name odd

“That guy on dreads sitting in front of Samson” she said as she put her bag beside her table, making it rest at the edge of the table

I looked at the Yusuf guy Margaret is talking about, waiting for him to turn back so I can have a better view of how he looks like and indeed he turned

To be sincere, the guy isn’t ugly or very handsome but in the middle but, when he smiles he is fine since that is what I am looking at right now and man, his dreads are long and packed somehow. I guess, that is what freaked Margaret out

I turned to look at Margaret expecting her to say something else

“The guy is not ugly, it is just his dreads that spoil the guy’s appearance” I said as I made my bag rest at the edge of my table

“That is what you think but the guy was my Elementary school’s classmate” she said looking freaked out

“Come on, what is bad there?”

“You are thinking nothing is bad because you think he is not ugly, listen back in elementary school he was known as the poop guy because he smells of poop” she said making me feeling irritated at the moment

“He must have changed with the way he has friends around him” I assured her

“Nothing can change what I had experienced in the past when walking past him or sitting beside him and guess what our homeroom teacher gave us as a group presentation” she said looking freaked out

“What?” I asked already curious in knowing what presentation the homeroom teacher gave them

“Poem as well, the same title but different chapter; mine is Past Memories paragraph two” she said as she opened the chapter on her IPad and showed me

“Wow, it might be talking about you fixing your pasts and coming together. Lol!” I said as I looked at her serious face

“Read it!” she said with brief words that make me obey immediately

‘Our past memories might be an obstruction to our way

Buy why can’t we make a hay first

I will love for us to soar together

Forgetting the past is all we need to do

Right now, let us focus on our future’

I read it in my mind before turning to face her

“Do you know the worst part?” she asked as if I already know

“No, what is it?” I asked curious on why she didn’t allow me to comment on the poem and talked immediately

“He once confessed his feelings to me in grade five” she said with an expression that says she wants all this to end

“Seriously?” I asked holding back my laughter as I looked at her

“I am dead serious and the worst part is that, I don’t want the same thing to repeat itself like back then when I remembered how he was back then” she said looking frustrated
