The armored entity charged forward, cleaver raised high. The sheer force of its movement sent shockwaves through the Rift, tearing the unstable terrain apart.

Liam barely had time to react. "Scatter!" he commanded.

Kai and Selene leaped aside as the rusted cleaver slammed down, carving a jagged crater where they had just stood. A pulse of corrupt energy rippled outward, warping the air.

"That thing hits harder than the Gatekeeper!" Kai cursed, drawing his weapon.

Echo's voice was sharp. "Analysis complete. This entity is classified as a 'Warden of the Rift.' It is stronger than typical guardians."

"We can tell!" Liam shouted back, barely dodging a second swing.

The Gatekeeper, still under Liam's control, lunged at the Warden, swinging its own bladed arm. But—

The Warden blocked it effortlessly with one arm, then countered with terrifying speed. The cleaver cleaved straight through the Gatekeeper's armor, sending the massive entity crashing backward.

Liam's eyes widened. "It's that strong?"

Selene moved fast, vanishing into the Rift's shadows. "I'll look for an opening. Keep it busy."

Kai cracked his knuckles. "Guess we're doing this the hard way."

He dashed forward, swinging his blade. Sparks flew as his attack clashed against the Warden's armor. The enemy barely flinched.

Liam growled. "Time to go all in." He activated Override, trying to get a sense of the Warden's core systems.

A pulse of glitching energy surged from his palm—

Liam's vision blurred for a second. The Warden's status screen glitched, distorting into unreadable symbols.

"Shit." Liam pulled back. "I can't take control of it yet."

Echo's voice cut through the noise. "Liam, your Override is being disrupted. The Warden's data is too unstable."

The Warden turned toward Liam now, sensing the attempt to tamper with it. Its blue eyes burned brighter.

A shockwave of corrupted energy blasted outward, hurling Liam and Kai backward. The ground beneath them fractured, and cracks spread through the Rift.

Liam coughed, pushing himself up. "We need a new plan."

Selene's voice came through their comms. "There's something behind it. A structure—like an altar. I think it's feeding it power."

Liam grinned. "Then we take it down."

The fight wasn't over. It was only just beginning.
