Chapter 6

After about 6 hours of sleep, Sang Qi was just about rejuvenated. He got home, took a nice warm shower and had a cup of piping hot tea.

"AHH.. just what the doctor ordered." He sighed, savouring the lightly honey sweetened chamomile tea.

He made way back to his bedroom to pick something to wear. Seeing as he was off duty, he picked a black graphic t-shirt and a pair of black sweat pants.

"I look a little hagard." He grumbled as he glanced at himself in the mirror. Then he grabbed a hair tie and tied up half of his shoulder length locks.

He for sure did not look like your typical doctor. He had a sleeve of tattoos on his left arm, a tattoo of a scalpel entwined with a scorpios tail behind his right ear.He looked a little dangerous. He on a recliner and pulled out his phone. He still had about an hour before he could head back to the hospital.

After making sure all was in place, Dr Sang picked up his keys and left for the hospital. He felt as if there was something pulling him back there. All he could think about was the girl lying unconscious on the hospital bed.

After a ten minute drive he arrived at the hospital. He decided to go to his office first, before visiting his patient.

" What is Dr Sang doing back here?" A nurse whispered to her colleague.

" I don't know but, I don't mind having this fine specimen gracing our corridors." Came the whispered response of a clearly smitten nurse as she covered her mouth, quietly giggling.

"Oh same tsala, same" said another nurse joining the duo.

Dr Sang was quite a hot topic in this state hospital. Having come from China. Rumours spread about how he was a Scion of a very Prominent family in China. While he had not come to be an attending doctor, he had subsequently taken up these duties within two days of his arrival, after noting a severe shortage of doctors. Although popular among the female staff, Sang Qi was a bit introverted and mainly focused on his duties. However, his personality did not deter the friendly staff, who always chatted him up whether about China, his past or his work. He always gave short answers with a very light and polite smile, but the ladies were too smitten to care. Sang Qi, on the the other hand, did not let the attention bother him, he was as comfortable as a polar bear in snow.

Sang Qi headed first to his office, put on his white coat and left for Tjatiwa's ward. Although he was currently off duty, he wanted to make sure the girl was doing good.

As he approached the ward, he had a soft tingling laughter coming from inside. He couldn't believe his ears, that voice sounded like heavenly music. A smile subconsciously appeared on his face as he reached the door.

His heart was drumming in his ears, he was a little flustered.

"Missy I am telling you, even Micheal Schumacher would have seen dust. I was driving so fast that I think the car didn't even touch the ground." Said the Butler with his eyes wide open while gesturing wildly with his hands.

"Ah Butler Schumacher, I am sorry that I scared you like that" Tjatiwa apologised with a tinge of laughter in her voice.

While her father loved her, it was this man in front of her, who raised her. The Butler and his wife were her true parents.

The Butler, seeing that her spirits seemed to be lifted, took a seat next to the bed and returned to being the dignified butler that he was.

"Hayi my child, there's no need to apologise. All this mess was not your fault... You didn't hurt yourself" he replied. He lowered his eyes to cover up his emotions, he didn't want his Missy to see his red eyes but his voice cracked with emotion.

Dr Sang stood in the doorway and listened to conversation going on. The only thing he could think of was how her voice sounded so angelic yet sexy at the same time.

"Good morning MissKhuphe, butler Ndebele." Sang Qi finally interrupted.

"Good morning doctor." Replied the Butler. His countenance was somewhat lighter, not as grave as it had been the night before.

"I would like to give Miss Khuphe a quick check-up and then I'll leave you to yourselves." Dr Sang said, as he opened the door once again to call the nurse on duty.

Butler Ndebele stepped out of the room to give them some privacy as required.

The nurse approached the bed, and helped Tjatiwa turn to her side so the doctor could access her most serious injury. With her back to the doctor, no one could see a flash of unease pass through her eyes. She clenched her hands to contain her nervousness.

Dr Sang lifted the bandage off the wound, confusion marred his handsome face.

'Didnt he just treat this wound a few hours ago? Why had it already scabbed over? There wew no signs of inflammation either.'

He prodded around the wound to confirm that the swelling had gone down significantly, then he quickly covered the wound back up and checked on some of the minor scrapes and cuts on Tjatiwa's body. They looked like they had healed. Dr Sang was astonished and momentarily dazed. The deeper wounds on her hand and feet also seemed to be half way healed.

Just as he was about to talk to the nurse. The door was suddenly pushed open.

"Hey sis, are you alright?" A breezy but firm voice sounded.

"Oops! Sorry! I didn't realise you were in the middle of treatment. I'll wait outside."

Before anyone could answer, Tjawada had turned on her heel and walked out.

The nurse and the doctor exchanged puzzled looks

"That's my sister." Tjatiwa explained in the awkwardness.

"Oh... That's alright, we are almost done here." Dr Sang reassured her.

"Nurse Sharon, please bring over the patient to the small theatre, I'll remove the sutures immediately."

Nurse Sharon was surprised, the wound had been deep and long, wouldn't the removal of sutures after only a few hours open it up. She, however, did as instructed.

The nurse quickly came back with a wheelchair and wheeled Tjatiwa to the small theatre, where Dr Sang was already waiting.

Looking at Tjatiwa's wound up close left Dr Sang speechless. He had never seen anyone heal so fast in his entire existence. This young Miss seemed to be hiding secrets.

Dr Sang removed all the sutures and cleaned up the wound. When he told Tjatiwa that she was almost healed, his gaze was burning. Tjatiwa, however, nodded meekly and kept a straight face.

Upon leaving the small theatre, they found Tjawada and Butler Ndebele still waiting outside her room.

The nurse wheeled her inside and helped her to the bed. As she lay down, her visitors also came in.

"Miss Khuphe's injuries are healing quite well, there is no infection so she can be discharged today." Dr Sang informed the family.

Tjawada barely heard a word the doctor said, she was beguiled by the handsome man in front of her. She cleared her throat trying to catch the doctor's attention.

"Uhm are you sure she should be discharged so soon. There was so much blood on the floor last night." She asked, her voice dripping with concern.

Sang QI was a little tempted to withdraw his statement about discharging his patient. He was curious to see how fast the wound would heal. He turned to look at Tjatiwa and found her fidgeting with the blankets, clearly uncomfortable.

"Yes, she can be discharged. I will make a home visit tomorrow to see if all is going well."

He asserted.

Tjawada's lips lifted in a smug smile. It seemed this doctor had a soft spot for her sister. She would let him see how much of a freak Tjatiwa was.

Meanwhile, Tjatiwa was having a mild internal panic. She had never been seriously injured before, but she had a hunch that her wounds would be completely healed by tonight and there wouldn't be a scar. Wouldn't the doctor be shocked out of his wits if he were to examine her? "It's..."

"Okay doctor, it's good that you can make a house call. We'll be waiting!" Tjawada quickly interjected, cutting Tjatiwa's refusal off.
