Letting out a fat sigh, I wondered how I was going to befriend the lazy and annoying Anthony Miller. It's already past lunchtime and I have nothing. "I wish Erika would just give me some ideas, but no! That witch just told me to figure it out!" I mumbled. I heard a huge sneeze from someone behind me.
"Ethan? Were you just talking shit about me?" I turned around to see her angry green eyes staring at me, and her blonde hair in the shine of the sun. Erika Cahill, the person who got me into this mess in the first place.
"Yeah, you just left me hanging earlier! How the hell am I gonna come up with an idea to befriend him on my own?!" I let out my frustrations.
"Well, you're supposed to just figure it out. Is it really any help if I just tell you what to do? You don't learn anything." I mean I guess she's right. Oh well!
Just as Erika and I went different ways, the best idea ever flashed right in my brain! The idea that was going to make that dickhe- I mean Anthony be my friend!
----------------
"Hey, Anthony. Do you understand this topic? I'm falling behind a little, and i'm struggling on this specific one. Can you help me out?" I was nervous, but worked up the courage to carry out the plan.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. I don't understand any of it." Why the hell did he say "Oh, yeah" if he was just gonna tell me he doesn't understand shit?
"O-oh, thats fine. I'll try asking Erika." I said, feeling defeated.
Anthony flinched a little and mumbled something that I didn't hear, and went back to sleep on his notebook.
"Erika, what now? My best plan just failed." She was getting on my nerves since this morning. She hasn't helped me at all, just told me a goal and made me stick to it.
I just went on with my day, and tried to keep flowing into conversation with Anthony. Every time we interacted, it ended shortly. We exchanged a few sentences then went back to doing whatever we were before.
There was still something that Erika never told me. I left school and was on my way home, and sent her a message on snap. I asked her about the deadline for this goal. How long do I have to make Anthony my friend?
She responded quick and my jaw dropped.
"Oh, just by tomorrow afternoon." Are you kidding?
"Dude. Who do you think I am? You want me to befriend a guy who is hard to reach in just a mere two days?" I angrily typed that. And I made it very clear that I was angry.
"Don't get an attitude Ethan. I made him my boyfriend in a day last year." Wait what?
Before she said that, I had no idea that Anthony and Erika even spoke to eachother before. But they dated in the past? I was thinking to myself when a question came to my head.
"Are you guys still together?" An obvious question.
"Hell no, he's not the same guy he used to be. We never even speak, and you see that. Why would you ask?"
"Well I was just making sure."
I put my phone away in my pocket and continued walking. I was walking down quite a busy street, and saw that there was a line for some kind of theatre. I walked up to see a movie of my favorite series, Animal Brawl. I never knew they made that little comic into a movie, so the giddy little 10 year old inside of me sneakily skipped the line and got in the theatre quick. I bought some tickets and sat down for 2 hours watching the movie.
----------------
I walked out of the movie theatre and turned the corner to the street I live on. It was dead compared to the street of the movie theatre. and around 7:30, so the sun had almost set.
Almost arriving at my house, I heard some unusual noise in the alleyway I was walking by. This doesn't ever happen on this street, so it was odd. I went to go check it out.
"You bastards!" I heard a familiar voice scream out. No way, I thought.
I turn the corner of the alleyway to see a bunch of guys attacking one dude. It was a familiar face. Even though there was an absurd amount of dudes, I think about 5 or 6, trying to attack him, he was holding off. The familiar face was Anthony. I don't know how he got in this situation, but I started thinking. Should I contact the police? Maybe I should call Erik-
The best idea I've ever had suddenly popped in my head. I know how to befriend Anthony Miller, you'll be surprised Erika.
I never planned to get into fights ever again after I transferred, but it looks like interfering is what I'm good at.
I popped out of the little corner I was hiding at and started helping Anthony fend off these skinny thugs. They didn't look out of our age range, so they weren't too strong, as I expected.
I jumped in and just fought on my instinct. Well- that's kind of a lie. I've been taught before, and I used to specialize in this. The one thing I was good at is the one thing that was forced away from me, ironic right?
One of the guys tried hitting my legs with a bat, so I knew I had to keep distance. I launched a back kick on him, easily hitting him with heavy force. Another thug snuck up behind me and tried punching me in the back, but failed as I dodged. I quickly spun around and landed a powerful crescent kick on his liver. He fell down, and so did the guy I hit with a back kick.
Anthony had already taken on two for himself as well. It looked like he was a boxer, and it showed in how he fought them. He ruthlessly beat them. The last two guys were different though, they weren't just some pushovers. They were more trained in fighting, and they had weapons. One had a metal bat, the other a wooden bat. We both took on one of them each. I took the guy with the metal bat, and him the guy with the wooden bat. This guy was different from the others, he had definitely wielded a weapon before. He swung at me fast, aiming for my knees. I jumped up and dodged barely, and stuck my foot in his chest, knocking him back a little.
The reason I was able to beat this guy was because he was clumsy. He underestimated my skills, and I took advantage of that. He tried hitting my knees once again, thinking he would catch me off guard. He tried to hit me there because of how I dodged last time. It seemed like I was in a hurry. If you think you could catch me like that a second time, you're dead mistaken. I jumped up easily and landed a 180 spinning kick, which knocked him out. I turned around and saw Anthony easily beating up his guy. Why am I always fighting strong people?
It took us a while, but we managed to defeat the stupid thugs trying to gang up on him.
Anthony and I were both exhausted from straight fighting, so we just went to the nearest bench and sat down. We started talking. "You don't gotta involve yourself in other people's issues, you know that right?" he said. He was right, I didn't have to interfere earlier. But I did.
"You saying you could've taken those guys yourself?" I said in a joking manner.
"I'm saying exactly that. I wasn't fighting back. But even though you look frail, you're kinda reliable in fights. You took a lot of hits, I thought your tall skinny body wouldn't handle it." I mean he's right. Im skin and bones at almost six feet and one inch, or atleast it looks like I am. So I don't look like a fighter.
Now was the time to take advantage of what i've done. I proposed a deal.
"Hey Anthony. Let's be friends. Call me and I'll help you whenever. Whoever you're fighting can fight me too."
"Eh, I guess that'll be helpful. But on one condition." As long as it's not a crazy condition I can handle it.
"Stop interacting with Erika Cahill."
At this time I didn't know what she was capable of. But Anthony told me a story. A story of how a demon named Erika Cahill ruined his life.
