Chapter 18 Tracking device from Wish?

>>> 6 days later <<<

Gitte walked down the corridor with Min in tow, stretched, turned and stuck her head through a crack in the door. Babsi was sitting inside with an extremely nervous blonde. Gitte just listened.

"Veronika, why did they have the tracking device with them? "

" Klausi must have slipped it to me ... I mean ... there are so many rumors about the north ... "

Babsi sighed.

"Ey Babs, when are you done, Min and I want to go to Grummel Puma. "

" In a minute ..."

Gitte came in, Min right behind her. Veronika froze and looked at Gitte and Min.

" What's wrong with her?"

" Afraid that the new Reichsführer Klaus will find her in Berlin."

Gitte looked at Veronika and crouched down.

" Did they also talk about the spectre from the north in the rumors?"

Veronika shook her head.

"Just that people disappear and never come back."

Gitte smiled.

"How big is the new empire?"

"Berlin, he's had a huge wall built around it and only ever sends people out to plunder. The pure live like kings, the rest are miserable. I really didn't know anything about the station ..."

Gitte pressed a finger to Veronika's forehead.

"Look at me, whatever Klausi is. He's nothing here. This is the north block, it's safe here. "

" But he has armed people ... "

Gitte continued to look at her. "So do we, we also have a monster looking out for us. Whatever Klausi may be. He's nothing compared to our monster."

Veronika looked at her in disbelief.

"How many people does he have?"

Veronica thought about it. "I think around two hundred armed men."

Gitte looked at her. " 200? How many did you see here alone when you arrived?"

She was nervous. " Many ... And then the warships ..."

Gitte stepped closer to her. " The monster here with us can, if it wants to, destroy Berlin without being there. "

Babsi sighed " Gitte please, I'm trying to do my job here. It doesn't help if you come with something like a monster."

Gitte nodded.

"True, but you have to admit Babs Alex is bad. But the monster is even worse. I remind you..."

Babsi sighed again and looked at Veronnica, who was looking at her in confusion.

"The Northern Bloc has taken over many parts of Europe and made contact with other survivors. "

"So it'll be like before?"

" Um... no. The old world has ended and the new one has begun. Veronika. Whatever Klausi thinks he is or whatever power he has. He must ..."

Min yawned loudly.

"You talk and talk. I was stuck in Paris, the city was full of infected and bandits, there were about 500 idiots. When survivors were captured, they were mistreated and then thrown to the infected when they ran out of steam. The northern block torched the city." Min looked at her.

Gitte grinned.

"Guess who made that possible. Alex said it was the most blatant destruction he'd ever seen live."

" Now can you imagine what she means by monster? "

Veronica nodded.

"Good, then let's get you to the medical examination," Babsi commented.

They walked down the corridor.

"Babs seems very busy with you," Min said next to Veronica.

" Lots of new refugees and survivors from the areas you've secured. "

" Hehe," Gitte only commented.

" But we've finally reached the survival rate."

" Overl..." Veronica began.

" The number of people it takes to not die out. " added Min.

" Ohh..."

"So according to rumors, well John, Alex is here somewhere too, I heard the kebab emperor was with his family with the last refugees and wanted to talk to someone high-ranking."

"They were with me..." Veronica mumbled.

They passed an Arab family who were having a heated conversation. An older man drew the attention of a younger man to his son.

"Look, there they are," Babsi commented. The family fell silent when they saw the group of women. The man recognized Veronika.

"Ah, Mrs. Kümmers! " he approached her. "Don't worry! I've spoken to a bigwig here, we're safe here."

Gitte had to laugh.

"They say there's a monster here that's worse than Klausi!"

Babsi groaned.

"Boa Gitte, now you've done it again."

The man looked at Veronika, then at the others.

"Mrs. Kümmers, I think they just wanted you to feel safer. Have you seen the soldiers, the town? I've already talked to other people here. If that's the monster you mean, that's the one I spoke to. Yes, Klausi is nothing."

Gitte had finally regained her composure.

"Are they going to rebuild the kebab empire?" asked Basi. He looked at her.

"Yes. I've been told I can do my old job again."

Gitte looked at Babsi.

"No wonder he's here."

The kebab king grinned.

"Did you know that he spoke to us in Arabic? It was only when I heard his voice with an accent that I knew who he was."

"Accent?" Babsi looked at him. He laughed. "Yes. A typical accent that you often hear in our area. We need to get on to the administration."

The group walked on. So did the group of women.

"Fast food again," came from Min.

"Well..." replied Babsi. "And what about Grummel Panther?" asked Min.

"A survivor from the Rhine area, led a survivor group Ex policewoman."

"And?"

They came to a waiting room where a woman in workout clothes sat uneasily. Her hair tied back in a ponytail. She was bouncing her legs.

"Ah, there she is," said Gitte.

She looked up when she heard Gitte.

" You said you could take me to Alex, right? "

" Yep. And you're lucky he's here right now. Thanks to the kebab king."

She looked at Gitte, who had spoken.

"The kebab king?" she smiled. "That's typical of him."

"Can I ask you your name and how you know Alex?" asked Min.

"I'm Bettina Schuller, I was his duty partner for four years until I left him alone. Only because of an infected... I didn't recognize him, thought he was sick, so I left to take him to the hospital and just left him there..." she stared blankly ahead of her.

Min put a hand on Bettina's shoulder.

"He's fine, well he's a workaholic ... "

Bettina stood up.

Gitta looked at Babsi. "Where is he?"

" Um, in the radio room, that's the last I heard. "

" Then radio room. "

They set off, climbing several floors. Babsi bumped into Gitte.

"Where are you ..." She rubbed her nose.

Gitte looked at her.

" Is Tes..."

Babs looked past her. She saw Tes standing in the hallway, grinning at her.

"Jo Te..." Gitte began. Tes stormed towards her and grabbed Gitte. Gitte tried to dodge, but Tes continued to grin at her.

"Gitte, you're too slow!"

"Min ... bloody help me ..." came from her.

Min looked at her unimpressed.

"I'm not stupid. You and I know that we don't stand a chance against them. "

" Um... is that the monster?" came from Victoria.

Tes looked at her questioningly.

"Monster?" she pressed her finger to Gitte's ear.

Babs sighed.

"She actually meant your better half."

Tes looked at her.

" And who are these two?"

She pointed at Victoria and Bettina. Let go of Gitte, who rubbed her ears.

Bettina cleared her throat.

"I'm Bettina."

Tes patted Gitte's head.

" This is Victoria, one who made it out of Berlin. "

Tes cocked his head a little to one side.

"Oh, I heard the radio operator on the house radio. The salvage crew said they haven't seen such a piece of junk technology in a long time. "

Babsi looked at her.

"The recovery team? Well, that was ..."

Tes nodded.

"We make sure there are no incidents with bandits on the Baltic. Fugitives are picked up and brought here, bandits."

She smiled and ran her index finger over her neck.

"And what are you doing here?" asked Min.

Tes scratched the tip of his nose.

" Couple check."

".. Couple check-up ..."

She nodded.

"They told me to go to the check-up with Uther because he never showed up for the appointments."

She grinned.

"Uh-huh..."

The door to the hallway opened.

"So, are you waiting for him now?"

Uther came out and I rubbed my head with a towel.

"Oh shit, I thought he had a tummy," came from Gitte.

Babsi looked at him, she was shocked to see him without a uniform or suit, just in sweatpants, sneakers and topless, his T-shirt in his pocket. She was even more shocked to see that he was well-trained and covered in scars.

"And why these clothes?"

Tes hurried over to him.

"He had a sparring session with Alex earlier and smashed up the interior badly."

After a brief search, she pointed to a scar.

"That's mine."

Uther looked at her.

"Not just that one."

He pulled on a T-shirt.

" Ey " she lifted the T-shirt and pointed to another one.

" He was wearing this when a helicopter crashed and Rotor hit him."

Babsi noticed that he looked completely different in this outfit and Tes was standing next to him. Just the way she spoke to him and the way she stood there. She had never thought they were married, but whenever she saw them together, acting together or just sitting next to each other. Not even her parents radiated something like that.

Gitte leaned towards her.

"Psch Babs, you know, those two remind me of grandma and grandpa when we were little."

Babs looked at Gitte.

"Please Gitte, Grandpa was a relic of his time. "

Gitte smiled and pointed at Uther.

"And Grandma always managed to make him look like a human being."

Uther finally managed to keep his T-shirt down.

"Come on Babs!" Gitte wanted to continue, Tes jumped on Uther's back and whispered something in his ear.

He looked at her and sighed.

"He's not in the radio room, he's in the very old one."

Gitte looked at him.

"As if I had any idea where he was back then ..."

Uther walked off, Tes broke away from him, walked behind him and beckoned them to follow.

Babs did so.

"Babs... " came from Gitte.

They followed the two of them out of the building.

It was unusually quiet.

Veronika looked around worriedly.

"There shouldn't be any soldiers here..." came from her.

Tes turned around with a smile.

"Tes isn't bothering them," came from Uther, who lit a cigarette.

"But she's inviting. Is that the girl who caught squad 8?"

" Oh, with the cheap transmitter ... " Babs followed them, she had read the reports and it said that it was high-end technology.

"Um... but the IT department..." Gitte began.

Uther stopped, looked at her.

"It may have been high-end before the outbreak. Now that so much technology has come together, it's cheap. "

 " But ..." Gitte continued.

Min intervened.

"She meant that not all the soldiers here have high-end equipment."

Uther continued.

"Not all of them are coming to replace the equipment. The new training facilities should be ready next month and the upgrade was a compulsion."

"Compulsion..." came from Gitte.

Tes grinned and followed him.

" Told you so, Gitte."

" You say a lot Tes, especially when you're drunk."

Babsi followed, the story between the two was pure rivalry. Gitte talked about what she did with Alex or what jobs she and Tes had. She told scary stories from the front or what was going on and sometimes, when she was really drunk, about her sex with Uhter.

"How you told me that your husband had you the other day..."

Tes looked at her with a grin.

"What? Honey is good for the skin and not everyone is as inclined as you."

Tes whispered to Uther.

"And then you hide ..."

Tes grinned.
