Chapter 47 Sending photos to the family is a family tradition

Sarge took off his jacket and laid it on the table. Underneath he was only wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, but his arms were also tattooed, only on him with flames and skulls and on his upper arm with the Marines' logo.

Liz looked at him promptly.

"Come on, I'm waiting, George."

Sarge rubbed the back of his head, then walked up to her and took her hands.

" Do you still have the tune in your head?"

She nodded.

He started and they glided across the room. It was strange for Luke to see something like this. He took a photo and a movie of them dancing. When they were done, Liz hooked up with Sarge.

"As you saw, we both had boots on. It's always important that both partners adapt to the other."

Luke sent the photo to his mother with the phrase " Exemplary dance lesson " It didn't take long for him to get a laughing emoji in reply.

Leonore looked at him questioningly.

"You'll see in a minute."

Liz's cell phone, which was on the table, buzzed and she reluctantly picked up the phone.

"What?"

Sarge ignored her.

" I'm going to see if I can find someone from a dance school to join us."

" Sarge, why can't you do that?" asked Lina.

"A picture of what of me?" She looked at Sarge. She walked past him and stopped in front of Luke.

She looked at him and he grinned crookedly. She hung up the phone.

" Do you know what you did?"

" Um, I just sent a picture to mom so she could see that the dancing was going on here."

" And she forwarded it directly and now" She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Aunt Liz?"

"It's okay, at least it's a quirk of ours." Her cell phone buzzed again and she picked it up.

"Hello, Dad. No. I was done. You said yes, as expected. ... " She squatted down and hung her head.

"Thanks ... Yes... he's the same as then. Yes... I will, see you later." She hung up. Remained in the posture.

"Aunt Liz?" asked Luke.

She looked up, she was bright red, got up, went to the table and got dressed.

"Sarge, how did you get with her?" asked Lisa.

Liz froze and looked around with a bright red face. Sarge looked at Liz.

"I met her in a motorcycle store. I bought spare parts for my bike there and Liz asked about racing groups. "

"Did you recognize Liz?" asked Lina.

"No. I went racing with her and had a drink afterwards."

He sighs.

" Well, then she found out I was with the troops. And then..."

Liz put her hand over his mouth. She looked at the class, went to the window, stuck her tongue out and jumped out.

Sarge looked after her in astonishment and cleared his throat.

"She has a possessive nature. "He put his jacket back on.

"Uh, Sergeant, doesn't she mind that you're so much older than her?"

"No. The genetic enhancement has evened out my biological age. It's about the same as hers. For example. Luke's grandpa, he's older than me and looks young, doesn't he?"

The class nodded.

"Liz's mom looks maybe a few years older. Although she's a lot older. "

Babsi walked in.

"Crap, I missed her."

Sarge looked at her, she smiled.

" I didn't mean to interrupt, I was just looking for Liz. "

"She just jumped out the window bright red," Sarge replied.

" Luke, is there more than the photo?" she looked at him.

"Um, I have another video, Grandma."

Leonore stared at Babsi, puzzled.

"That's your grandma?" she said.

Babsi laughed.

" Yes, it is. And I'm older than Liz's mother. You children don't have to worry. You'll grow old normally... well, a bit slower after a certain age. But you age more slowly. "

" Sarge said that no one has ever been forced to be vaccinated."

" That's true, when the North Block was founded and the Council voted for it. Then when the gener refresh came, it stayed that way. Liz's father was the representative for the vaccination and members of the armed forces were also vaccinated. Don't forget, that was the time when George was here.

She gently placed her hand on her head.

"One on one against infected people. Someone was bitten. The soldiers volunteered to be vaccinated. One less thing to worry about on the battlefield. The general refreshment was the vaccination first, the side effect of the refreshment came later. So it was up to the citizens to decide whether they wanted to be vaccinated or not. My father, for example, was a councillor. He was absolutely in favor of the vaccination, but he didn't get vaccinated, and neither did my mother. They wanted to enjoy their dinner. The northern block is supposed to be an opportunity for the next generation. "

Leonore raised her hand.

"I have a question, why did they get vaccinated?"

Babsi pondered.

"I think to be right, to make a better world. But you're old enough. I was afraid of getting old. I had just come out of the plague, a new life was just around the corner. I wanted more time for "

"For?" Leonore asked.

Babsi put her finger to her mouth thoughtfully. She looked at Sarge.

"What did Liz say why?"

"Why always me..."

" Because, unlike the others, you George managed to bind Liz to you."

" My back says otherwise ma'am and I think it's more because she thought I was her father the first time I was in uniform."

Babsi grinned.

"You have the same build, but you're more harmless than he is. George. So, what word am I missing?"

" Sex ma'am, uninhibited sex."

Luke looked at Leonore, who was silent like the others.

"Good George. " She looked at the class.

" Well, I was young then, I still wanted to let my hair down, how many of you have? Don't worry."

More than half raised their hands.

Leonore raised her hand again.

" I don't understand if Liz mistook the sarge for her father..."

Babsi smiled and walked up to Luke.

"Liz loves her father more than anything in the world, except for her godfather and Luke. When she was fourteen, she and her sisters had a traumatic experience. "

She looks at Sarge, who is flipping through a file on his cell phone.

"When Liz was 14, her father was stabbed to death by a corrupt teacher. In front of her eyes."

Sarge looked up.

"Oh, I remember, I had to stand guard at the hospital back then."

The bubbly woman raised her hand.

"I have a question because my mom never talks about it and because, well. So," she took a breath.

"There was always military at the parents' evenings, yes?"

Babsi looked at her and laughed.

"Yes. That's how it is. My daughter is Luke's mother, you know that."

The bubbly woman nodded.

"He's her father and he's a lazy man when it comes to making passes at women."

She pulled up a chair and sat down.

"A very lazy man, if he had his way he'd be working all the time. Well, he managed to win the hearts of four women, not on purpose. The 4 then got together and made a pact when they realized he made no move to favor one. "

She grinned.

"Pact?" asked the bubbly one.

"That's right, we decided that he was ours and that we were in charge of his life. Well, it worked out somehow. "

Sarge scratched the back of his neck.

"He has a harem?" asked a boy.

Babsi laughed.

"No, we decide his sex life, in short, and he's a softie."

Sarge looked at her in disbelief.

" Him and a softie ... "

She looked at him chastisingly.

" When his kids were born and we needed a break. Well, we were a bit overwhelmed. He grabbed the kids and took care of them."

Luke looked at Leonore, who was staring at Babsi.

"But to explain the dimension. Do you know who Luke's grandfather is?"

Everyone thought about it, even Luke himself had to think.

"George?"

" Huh?" He looked at his cell phone.

"Who is Luke's grandfather?"

"He's my boss, ma'am."

She looked at him and sighed, then looked to the class.

"No wonder she's attached to you, I really see the similarities."

" Ma'am I look not unlike the boss, last week when we were doing jump drills from orbit he was with us. The Major said he was just watching and we had a lot of new guys with us who had never done it before and they were scared.

He was the first to jump out and took care of those who landed. Even the head of the secret service jumped in. He cursed the boss but jumped with him."

"I didn't know he had made an orbit jump." Babsi thought about it.

"Well, after that he went to the other teams and did the same thing 14 times. Then he went to the conference. Ma'am, I was just screwed because Liz put me on watch."

Babsi looked at him.

"So let me get this straight. You jumped in after Alex 14 times because you had orders to guard him?"

"Order is order, ma'am."

She rubbed her nose.

"So where was I ... Oh yes. Alex, Luke's grandfather. He's the president of the North Block before you say otherwise. What you see on TV is his alias, a fake character that's evolved over the years. He doesn't live in a palace or an extremely expensive mansion. No, he lives in a nice beach house. He spends most of his time on the road anyway. Even when his schedule is full, he goes to parents' evenings, why? Well, he takes care of his family and despite all the years and the accusations, he cares for the council. "

Leonore raised her hand.

"And what about Liz's point with the sergeant? "

Babsi smiled.

"Oh yes, he was there to pick up his two daughters from school. Only took two people with him, he had to hurry. So after he was stabbed, his daughters snuck onto the plane that was supposed to take him to the hospital. The daughters didn't want to lose him. Liz was the worst hit. All four are dad's children, even today when they are actually adults. Liz needs her zen time every now and then where she can hold him."

"Zen time..." Sarge looked at her.

Babsi looked at him again.

"No, the other three do that too. Except for the Hydras..."

"You still call them Hydras?"

"Yup. The women's task force is the Hydras commando, the day before yesterday the commando came back from the mission covered in blood and guts."

"And you know that because?"

"I lost at poker ma'am and had to swap shifts. Well, I was actually off and Inge from the cleaning squad had an appointment with her husband."

She looked at him.

"Ma'am, we have rules, people who come back so dirty have to be cleaned separately. Rooms have to be cleaned and so on. It was just a mess."

She smiled.

"So out of personal interest. What was your job? "

Sergeant sighed.

"Well, Inge was away and three others called in sick. So there were only three of us. One in the control room, one in the clothing issue and one who had to clean up the mess. "

Babsi pulled out her cell phone and pressed the speed dial button.

"Gitte, I've just heard that you and your girls came back to Gesaut the day before yesterday."

She listened.

Sarge glanced at the class.

"If you thought those four were harmless bed bunnies until now, you didn't. They're predators. The women's task force are all predators. They look harmless..."

Babsi hung up with a smile and stood up.

"George, I'm here to tell you that you did a very good job. None of the girls have complained."

A boy raised his hand.

" Sarge, I was just wondering. What's your position anyway?"

"I'm a Lt. Col. from the death squad in the north block. Well, the only one now, the others have thrown in the towel and gone to other areas to pursue careers. Sarge is my name."

"That doesn't explain why we see you everywhere Sarge."

He sighed.

"George is with you now because you need a familiar face. You saw him at the freight yard because he's good at his job. Didn't you wonder why there were relatively few infected in town? He hunted them down with the soldiers and provided safe escape corridors."

She stood up.

"Well, I'm off now. Oh yeah, George Gitte said you'd be back for the next cleanup and Luke, I want the video."

"Ma'am ... do you know how much people gossip? That's not human. "

She laughed and left. He sighed.

"There you go, kids. Put your tables back down, we'll go through the next few hours. "

They did.

He was really sorry, but he sent the video to his grandma and that was that. The rest of the lesson was just plan what they would go over. Then they were allowed to go home.
