Chapter 90 The elf with the quest to get chips

He sat down on his couch, fell asleep immediately and woke up to someone pressing their finger on his face.

He opened his eyes and saw his whole family.

"What?"

" What's wrong with your face?"

Luke raised an eyebrow looking at his hand, he had gone into primal mode.

"This is my real body" He lit a cigarette.

"What do you mean by real body?" asked Gitte.

"Well, I've taken a bullet a few times over the years. So you can see here that I'm fine. What you knew. Learned during the time I was allowed to work for John. "

" But why?" she asked. Luke looked at her.

" Quite simply, I moved from war zone to war zone, from kill mission to kill mission. In between chilling out, getting drunk, picking up alien chicks etc. etc. "

"Speaking of alien chicks, why are they raiding the fridge?" asked Min.

" Roommates, so to speak. So, what's honoring me with your visit?"

His grandfather put the notepad down for him.

"To give it back to you."

Luke looked at him questioningly.

"But it was to help your company."

He nodded.

" True, but Ai said it's too complicated for her."

Nad came over with a burger in her hand. Luke noticed that she had at least put on a bathrobe.

" Oh, I didn't know you had one of those. "

" Well, it's spiked, so it serves more as a local computer."

Nad looked at him.

" It's more than a computer, it's even powered. You can coordinate local productions with it, if they're compatible."

"Which ours are not. " his grandfather commented.

Nad took a bite of the burger.

" You can also watch TV, even the galactic stuff. "

Luke looked at her.

"Really?" He pulled the table closer, tapped on it and menu popped up. He typed television into the search menu and a result came up, which he clicked on.

Holoimage built up, generated by holoprojectors. An overview of the channels appeared.

"There, let's see."

" oh oh oh, click on channel 19 " came from Nad.

Luke clicked.

The picture enlarged and we saw two monstrosities that looked more like dinosaurs mixed with camels, beating each other bloody, chirping and gurgling the whole time.

Babsi looked aghast.

"What's that?"

" Hhhmm boxing, seen from here. The one on the left is the crowd favorite and the one on the right is the fierce rival. "

Nad nodded, even Ned came with fries in hand.

"Oh, the final," she munched on the fries.

Nad and Ned sat down on the sofa.

"And the noises?" came from Min.

"That's the presenter. If you switch to our language, it sounds like a Mexican speaking at full tilt."

They seemed horrified.

"The fires should stop, too. "

" We realized that, but how?"

" I bought a generator for the anchor on the black market."

Nad scowled at him.

" Oh, don't worry about it. I'll get a license for it."

"You say that so easily, it has to come from the Galactic Ministry."

" I'll think of something" Luke looked at his family.

"So, what can I offer you? Or has another house burnt down?"

" To be honest, yes, yours burned down, although we didn't find any holoprojectors."

"I took them out years ago. " He pointed to his watch.

"There are twice as many projectors in here."

Ned looked at his watch.

"Ttzz a guardsman's watch, bought or stolen?"

Luke grinned.

"Honestly earned. So, when my place burns down. Where's my ex hanging out then?"

" Moved in with a friend of hers. "

" Well, what else?"

" You're a shareholder in the company."

Luke raised an eyebrow questioningly.

" I've never bought any."

Liz came out of the basement with an assault rifle.

" Yes, this thing works again."

They looked at her, Liz whispered to Luke.

"Luke, what kind of thing did you put in the basement? It buzzes all the time."

" Ah, a printer."

" Printer? You mean one of those huge things in the plant?"

Luke nodded.

" So why the shares?"

" Thank Tes. Looks like she set it up. Now you alone have more shares than the others."

" Aha, good, what else? "

Alex seemed to struggle with himself a little.

"Tell me."

"The World Championship Organization, wants to do a tournament and when they saw you on TV, they want you to join. As a former title holder."

Nad looked at him.

"A tournament?"

"Yes. Luke was active there for a long time."

"Oh, I want to see that, Ned will get you some material for the printer."

Ned looked at him skeptically.

" Then it must really be something."

Luke sighed.

"All right, then tell them. I'll come, but tell them too. Tell them to put me on the toughest team they can put together."

"That would be assassins, psychos and so on, Luke."

He grinned.

"Exactly, just what I want. But I still need to get some training gear. "

They stayed for another hour, he showed them the house and the garden.

Two days later he was woken up by Nad.

"Luke wake up, someone wants to talk to you."

He opened his eyes, blinked and saw the elf hovering in the room.

" Ah, look at you, welcome to my abode."

"I thought you had a cheap place..." came from her.

Luke got up, shuffled to the fridge and took out a can of coffee.

"Well, what's honoring me with your visit? "

She looked at Nad, who grinned at her.

"I need 800 of these chips and the corresponding modules."

" Hm hm hm, I just remembered. Where are yours?"

She hovered in the air.

" My superiors broke them during testing ..."

He sipped the can.

" Alright, they'll be ready in two days. "

" And what do you want for that?"

Luke sat down again, sipped the can again, reached for the table. Which beeped loudly.

" That's new ..."

The table woke up from sleep mode.

"Genetic code recognized, access granted." it echoed.

The elf looked at the table.

" Oh, you have a table like that... They're extremely rare, especially ones that work. My clan had to kidnap an idiot like that back then and force him to do it. "

Nad looked at her.

"What's your name, anyway? I mean, everyone just calls you the Map Queen. "

She grinned.

"Lynx."

Luke clicked through the menus.

"Ah, look, more options. Let's see. Test facility, hmm hmm, main generator on the ass hmm hmm. Oh, emergency generators, production plant hmm hmm. Defense facility on the moon hmm hmm hmm. "

He clicked through the menus, tapped on production facility, blueprints saved.

"Alright, so like I said, you'll have the chips in two days. Price hhmm."

"The chips are good and his latest version is even better, they're high quality," came from Nad.

Lynx looked at her.

" Hmm."

He stood up, took a set out of the nano bag and put it on Lynx, put the collar on her and pressed the button for her to land on the floor.

"You didn't have to program it?"

"Yours was still in there. So," he picked up his cell phone and typed something in.

"Since you're my guest for so long and I don't want you to attract attention."

He typed something in, pressed enter and pressed another button on the collar. Lynx flinched briefly and looked at him questioningly.

"You look like me. "

She went to the mirror and looked at herself.

"Hmm, except for the ears and the teeth are normal and the eyes haven't changed."

Nad grinned.

"He did that to me and Ned too, but it's comfortable. I can put on clothes that I know will fit me, even if I'm an alien again. "

Lynx looked at her.

"You're wearing a bathrobe ..."

" Here, yes, but I've mingled with the locals a few times. "

" Uh-huh."

Nad stood up and walked towards her.

" And since I've heard a lot of rumors, especially about you. I thought of something, since you fancy him anyway."

" That's right. "

Luke sat back down at the table and put his cell phone on it. Then he selected the plans he had been working on and entered them into the development program. The table automatically refined and ironed out any problems. Then he had a pair of earplugs and laryngeal chips built and gave the command for chip production.

Lynx tapped fingers against his cheek.

"If I'm your guest, where do you want me to sleep?"

He looked at her.

" In a bed?"

" Really, and in which one? Nad says they're all occupied. "

Luke groaned.

"Come on, I'll show you yours."

He got up, walked up the stairs to the guest room. Opened the door. The room was furnished in a modern style. Originally, he had furnished all the rooms in the same way, more out of laziness than anything else. There was a double bed in every room, rooms were brightly painted and light.

"Here's your room."

Lynx entered, looked around.

"And why does this room look like it used to be a bathroom? "

" Because it used to be one, it needed to be remodeled and a bigger bowl put in. "

" And where did you get such luxury breeding pools? They're usually in palaces, aren't they?"

He grinned.

" We use one of those to relax in, there's one outside by the pool. "

She scanned the bed.

"Luke, I need things like that Ned!" Nad came in.

He winced and looked at her.

"Are you going shopping at the stores? "

She came closer.

" She says they're from a professional."

Lynx listened up.

" Clothes? Ohh, I need some too ..."

Luke cursed Nad for being such a chatterbox.

"Well... since I don't know if he has time..."

"Try me..." he demanded.

He groaned, sat down, picked up his cell phone and called Bill.

"Darling! Thanks to you I got so many new jobs and not the celebrity snobs!"

" Glad to hear it Bill, I have a problem Bill."

" Oh darling, what's your problem?"

He looked at Lynx and Nad standing in front of him.

" Well... I've got Nad's sister with me and she loves her new clothes..."

"Oh honey... that's nothing special."

" And another fashion junkie.... "

"Defend fashion junkie Luke..."

Lynx raised an eyebrow questioningly.

"I only have brand-name clothes!"

"Ah, I hear it, hhhmm," he heard a scroll. "Well, if you come over now, I could still fit you in, Luke. "

"Okay, I'll be right there."

Luke hung up, pocketed his cell phone and stood up.

" We're driving over..."

" You don't have a car..."

Luke sighed, programmed the teleporter, took them both by the hand and zapped his way into Bill's living room, who winced and stared at him in shock.

"Now when I said ... I thought you were coming. "

Luke let go of them both and pushed on the chain, which left Nad and Lynx standing there in their original form.

" I don't want to keep you too long Bill."

Bill looked at them both and then at Luke.

"Why do you look so different Luke?"

Luke looked at himself, sighing. Used to walking around the house in his original form.

Lynx grinned.

" That's his real body, everything else is just for show. "

Bill came closer, scrutinizing him.

"Right, now that you mention it, I can see the scars. Hmm."

Then he looked at Nad and Lynx, who were posh but still browsing Bill's fashion collection.

"Those two are going to cost you Luke ..."

" The catalog is on its way, there was nothing current on Lynx planet. "

Bill continued to look at the two of them. Lynx found something, Hob an evening dress looked up at Bill.

"Does it come in my size?"

Luke sat down, looked at the chaos, Bill in his element and two dress freaks, Bill could really try out his entire collection on these two.

3 hours later he zapped back with both of them, both had made a full haul.

2 days later, with a bloody back, Nad Lynx had dragged him to bed, Lynx was gone. He could breathe again. There were still 4 days until the tournament. He remembered that he hadn't picked up a guide yet.

So he teleported to his ship, thundered to the Core World to get one. Filled out the necessary forms for the anchor plus generator. They accepted him. He was about to leave again until he was stopped by guards and taken to the Empress. She sat in the throne room and tapped her finger on the backrest.

"You're very active and very rarely here, Luke."

Luke smiled.

" I'm very busy."

She smiled coolly.

" Buying a generator on the black market?"

Luke looked at her innocently.

" Well, you don't just give something like that away."

" Right, because it's not a trade good."

" You see, and since I had to stabilize the anchor. I took a different route."

" I see, well then tell me. Why shouldn't I punish you?"

"Well, for starters. You have too big a heart for that."

She looked at him with a twinkle .

"The other point is that I want to launch a few more products on the market and I can only do that if the planet isn't in ruins."

"Products? Like the clothes you brought with you?"

"Hhmm no, I gave them to you because I hoped you'd look good in them. Which was true. "

He reached into his nano bag and pulled out his lunch. Sushi from last night.

She looked at him skeptically. Luke scurried over to her. Popped one in her mouth.

She looked at him in surprise.

"Come on, don't be like that, it's better than what's on offer at the gala dinners."

She chewed, ate the rest.

" Indeed, it tastes good. "

He smiled, took out an apple and handed it to her.

"Fruit..."

"That's right, they're not available anywhere else. I've already checked and they're delicious."

She took the apple and bit into it, looking at him in surprise.

"Well, if you'll forgive me. I'll put a box of them on the moon, where the Alliance will pick them up and bring them to you without anyone noticing."

She took another bite, chewing.

"All right, I forgive you. But you need to get a massage and something else."

He groaned inwardly, she smiled.

So he did, and then he left quickly after grabbing another snack and returning to his habitat briefly.

Arrived on the moon. Locked the ship and zapped down. Tyreen stared spellbound at one of the alien broadcasts. Luke watched, it was a soap opera. She looked at him.

"I have no idea what they're saying, but it's exciting. "

He grinned and sat down next to her. Held out the guide to her.

She looked at it, then at him.

" I can't read this ..."

" Put your hand on it." She did, it wobbled and the writing changed.

He took an ear clip and a throat chip out of his pocket and put them on her. She looked at him, still confused.

"Translator, I consider you a guinea pig."

"Uh-huh."

He pressed the power button and she flinched briefly, staring at the holo wall.

"Damn, I understand what they're saying ..."

He patted her head.

" Yep, next step for you is to read the manual and then learn the core world script."

She looked at him wide-eyed, hugged him and stormed off.

Luke sighed and switched to the TV. They really were advertising the competition. So he pulled himself together, changed his clothes and went to practice.
