His eyes flushed out of emotion as my words gradually sank in. His numb orbs darted to my father and then back at me. Some might say he didn't only appear startled; a keen eye might notice that behind those gray, scaly pupils,he was actually hurt. My eyes saw a bit of that,but he shut me out before I could delve deeper.

"No…no. Kiara, you can't just call off a wedding in a week. That's absurd." The queen said it with a hasty beat in her voice. "We have sent out invites. I got my dress custom-made. I bought a hundred swans…What will the guests say?"
