Getting Back on Track

*Adriel's POV*

The crisp air whispered through the dense courtyard as I took my position, my arrow nooked, and my bow drawn taut.

My eyes narrowed as it drew focus on the red dot in its very center. The make-shift bull-eye stand stood firmly in the sun,as if challenging my skills.

I let a small jolt of anger wash through me—enough to make me frown but not quite enough to let my mind dwell further on it.I didn't let myself question why I was angry Getting my control back wasn't an option to consider, anymore. It was a necessity.Letting my mind linger in that faint thought will do me no good.

"You are a bloody coward, Adriel." My mother yelled at me as Vivi served her more wine. "I still cannot believe you let her go. This day will forever be marked for your cowardice. You were this close, but you threw it all away. And what's even worse? You didn't even say goodbye."
