At the Very Edge

Hendrix's POV*

"What do you mean she isn't home?" I barked. The maid shrank back and dropped her head.

"Where did she go this time?"

The maid stared at me blankly.

"Are you deaf?" I asked. "Where did Erica go?"

"Her majesty doesn't inform us of her whereabouts, sir."

No one refers to me as 'your highness' anymore. It was just, sir. Like I was some freakish knight.

"Ah,what's the point?" I groaned. "You don't serve right; you don't hear anything; you don't see anything. What good are you??"

"I'm sorry, sir, the maid whispered.

"Get lost." I said dismissal as I paced the room. I was bored, angry, and on edge. I hated being left in the dark. And she was doing it to me again.I hated being this alone. I never got used to my own company.I hated myself now more than ever.

I paced around, deep in thought, about something to do to pass the time.

"So this is the shack she hid you in?"
