I catch Carlotta at the end of the stairs, her eyes piercing mine and her hand folded across her chest. Her hair was in a neat bun, like it usually is.

I don't think I've ever seen her in disarray, and even now, past midnight, there she stood. Polished.

"You are awake, she says disappointedly, tightening her robe.

"Do you remember the cure for redenna crystals?"

Her face scrunched in confusion. "What?"

I repeat my question, trying to find my way out of the house and into the garden. She follows closely behind me, still asking what I meant.

"Adriel is hurt." I said absently as I squinted at the garden. It was vast, and in this situation, too fast. There were sections of it.Herbal, ornamental, and my tea.

"He needs moonstone flowers." I say it out loud, staring at the sky. "Tears of the moonstone will take out those crystals in no time."

"Is this why you decided not to sleep?" She asked, her voice sounding unimpressed.
