Claudia Ross knew she had been set up just by looking into Mark Reed's eyes.
Mark's intoxication had mostly faded, "Claudia, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have distrusted you!"
"It's okay." Claudia waved her hand with little concern, "How is your mother doing?"
"She's out of danger now."
"That's good."
Claudia sighed helplessly. Mother Reed really dared to be harsh on her, risking her own life just to frame her.
Luckily, Mark was sensible enough, or else she could have a hundred mouths and still fail to explain herself.
"Claudia, what did you say to my mom?"
Mark's tone had softened considerably, the dangerous aura had vanished without a trace, and he was once again the gentle and courteous man.
"It's the same old stuff."
Claudia figured Mark could guess as much, and she didn't want to be a person who stirred up trouble.
"Will you leave me?" Mark looked at her sorrowfully, wanting to hug her yet not daring to, his hand by his side clenched into a fist.
