Mother Reed looked at the fresh and elegant Claudia Ross, feeling a tremor in the revulsion she held at her core.
She briskly stiffened her face and scolded righteously, "Who said we're family? Don't try to gild your own face."
"Aunt, Mark is already an adult, and he knows what he's doing. You should understand his character better than I do. No one can change what he's decided, so why make things unpleasant for yourself and for others?"
Even she understood such simple logic, so why couldn't Mother Reed, who was past her fifties, understand?
Claudia Ross could only sigh.
In comparison, Mrs. Lu seemed to have a deeper understanding of the bigger picture.
"What are you to lecture me?" Mother Reed's face darkened to a scowl, glaring at Claudia Ross with gritted teeth.
"Aunt, I'm not lecturing you, I'm just discussing the matter at hand."
"So you think you have the right to argue?"
