The couple spent their days confined to the house, with Wyatt Perry only leaving to drop off and pick up the kids, while Claudia Ross would barely set foot outside the door, hardly ever descending the stairs.
Even his mother, in her naivety, started to notice something was wrong.
She pulled Wyatt into the kitchen and asked in a hushed voice, "What's going on with you and Claudia?"
"Nothing," Wyatt brushed it off casually.
"Do you think I'm blind or dumb? You say it's nothing, but I can tell there's a problem. Tell me what's wrong—maybe I can help. Are you entangled with some other woman again, making Claudia mad?"
Wyatt couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. Was this really his mother? Couldn't she hope for something good from him for once?
Besides, he wasn't the type to get entangled with women willy-nilly.
"Mom, I said it's nothing, so please stop asking," said Wyatt, turning to leave, but his mother grabbed him fiercely.
