Writer's POV:
Wendy blinked awake to streams of sunlight filtering through the curtains of her bedroom window. As consciousness slowly returned, so did the unmistakable queasiness in her stomach. She swallowed hard, willing my breakfast to stay put as another wave of nausea washed over her
Slowly, she sat up, one hand instinctively moving to rest on her still-flat belly while the other shielded her sensitive eyes from the brightness. She took a few deep breaths, confused by how intensely uncomfortable she felt. And then it hit her - could it be?
Marvin had already gone to work. That's a relief because they have been down this road before, she doesn't want to give him false hope. She is prepared to figure things out on her own before letting him in.
Her period was late, that much she already knew. She had brushed it off at first, blaming stress and irregular cycles. But combined with this sudden onset of nausea and fatigue, She now considers a new possibility: She might be pregnant.
The thought sent a thrill of excitement and anxiety through her. Pregnant? A baby? Could it be true? She rested both hands on her stomach, imagining it swelling with new life in the coming months. She pictured herself cradling an infant, small and warm and delicate, along with Marvin.
At the same time, worries began crowding her mind. She has been through this before. This is the second time they lost the first baby and it took a toll on their marriage , with the cold hearted mother-in-law making things worse.
Was she ready to be a mother? Would her husband be pleased or feel sad at the possibility of another miscarriage? As she swung her legs off the side of the bed, a wave of dizziness reminded her that any panicking could wait - first things first, she needed to take care of herself.
She stood slowly and made her way to the bathroom, emotions swirling - hope, nervousness, joy. With trembling hands she opened the medicine cabinet, reaching for a pregnancy test. It was time to find out if her life was about to change forever.
Her hands shook as she held the pregnancy test, staring at the two clear lines that had sealed her fate. Pregnant. A swirl of exhilaration and panic surged through her. She was going to be a mother! But also...could they handle this? She sank down onto the closed toilet lid, trying to calm her racing mind.
She knew she needed to tell Marvin right away. This news would change everything for them. Hands still trembling, she pulled her phone out of her bathrobe pocket and selected his name. My heart pounded as the phone rang.
"Hey sweetie, what's up?" Marvin's cheerful voice greeted me.
"Hi...I, um, have something to tell you," she stammered. She took a deep breath, willing her voice not to shake. "So, you know how I haven't been feeling well lately? I just took a pregnancy test. And...it was positive."
Silence on the other end of the line. Her pulse roared in her ears. "Marvin? Did you hear me?" she asked tentatively after a few agonizing moments.
"You're saying you're...we're...I'm going to be a dad?" He finally responded, his voice filled with wonder. You could hear the smile growing on his face.
Relief washed over Wendy at his happy tone. "Yes! I'm pregnant, we're going to have a baby!" she couldn't help but grin now too as the excitement took over.
Marvin whooped loudly in her ear. "A baby! Wendy, that's incredible!" His uncontrolled joy sparked her own as they exclaimed in delight about the new life they had created. The worries would come later, but for now they let the happiness at starting their future family dominate everything else.

Writer's POV:
The first men, known as Donovan, spoke in hushed tones, "We've got orders from the boss. Follow this woman, observe her every move, and report back. He didn't disclose much, but you know how crucial this is."
The second man, Elias, nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting the weight of the mission. "Any specific details? Who is she, and why are we tailing her?" he inquired, seeking clarity in the shadowy assignment.
Donovan leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper, "The boss didn't spill much. All we know is she's a person of interest. Keep a low profile, no direct contact. We're his eyes and ears on this one. Report back promptly and discreetly."
Elias, ever meticulous, sought further guidance, "What if she notices us? What's the contingency plan?"
Donovan's eyes flickered with a hint of caution, "Blend in, Elias. We're professionals. But if things get dicey, prioritize discretion over confrontation. The boss wants information, not a mess."
As they exchanged nods, the clandestine conversation concluded, leaving an air of intrigue in the undisclosed location. The two mysterious men prepared to embark on a mission that blurred the lines between shadows and secrets.
At Marvin & Wendy's house
Marvin took a half day at work because he wanted to take his wife to the family Dr. He got home and called out Wendy, she was excitedly ready for the journey. He took her hand and led her to the car and he drove off.
In the sterile yet reassuring environment of the doctor's office, Wendy and Marvin sat hand in hand, their hearts pounding with a mix of excitement and nervousness. As the doctor conducted the examination, Wendy's eyes sought reassurance in Marvin's steady gaze. The doctor, a beacon of expertise, finally looked up and offered a comforting smile.
"Well, Wendy and Marvin, everything seems quite normal," the doctor announced, a sense of joy evident in the way the words were delivered. Marvin's grip on Wendy's hand tightened, a tangible expression of relief washing over both of them. "The baby appears healthy, and I don't see any immediate concerns. It's an exciting time for you both," the doctor continued, her tone fostering an atmosphere of celebration.
Wendy's eyes sparkled with unshed tears, and Marvin couldn't contain his grin. "Thank you, Doctor. This means the world to us," Wendy expressed, her voice slightly choked with emotion.
As they left the doctor's office, the weight of uncertainty lifted, and Wendy and Marvin walked into the future hand in hand, their hearts filled with the promise of a new life. The reassuring words of the doctor echoed in their minds, marking the beginning of a journey filled with hope, anticipation, and the boundless possibilities of parenthood.
Driving through the familiar streets of their neighborhood, the weight of the day's emotions caught up with Wendy. Tears welled in her eyes, and sobs escaped, prompting Marvin to gently pull over to the side of the road. Concern etched on his face, he turned to Wendy and asked, "Wendy, what's wrong? Please, talk to me."
Through tearful eyes, Wendy revealed her deepest fear, "Marvin, what if... what if history repeats itself, and I miscarry again? I can't bear the thought of going through that pain once more." Marvin, understanding the gravity of her concerns, reached for her hand, offering comfort in his touch.
With a tender voice, he suggested, "Wendy, maybe we shouldn't tell anyone about the pregnancy until you're showing. It might ease some of the pressure and allow us to cherish these moments privately. We can navigate this together, step by step." Wendy, finding solace in his words, nodded in agreement, grateful for Marvin's unwavering support in the face of her deepest fears. As they resumed their journey home, the decision to keep their joyous news a secret became a shared pact, a protective cocoon around the fragile hope blossoming within Wendy.
As they settled back into the comfort of their home, Marvin, sensing Wendy's lingering fears, decided to share a story that his grandmother had once told them when they were young. With a soft smile, he began, "Wendy, do you remember the story Grandma used to tell us? About a woman who faced multiple miscarriages, but when her pregnancy finally held, she was carrying not one, but six children."
Wendy, intrigued by the reminiscence, listened intently as Marvin continued, "Despite the hardships and losses, she eventually experienced the joy of a successful and abundant pregnancy. It taught us that sometimes, life's journey is filled with unexpected turns, and even after moments of sorrow, there can be overwhelming happiness waiting just around the corner."
Marvin's story, woven with the threads of hope and resilience, wrapped around Wendy like a comforting blanket. It became a beacon of light, a reminder that their journey held the potential for unforeseen blessings. Wendy, moved by the tale, felt a renewed sense of optimism, a spark of hope kindled by the generations that had come before them. In that shared moment, the story became a cherished piece of their own narrative, offering solace and inspiration as they navigated the delicate path of parenthood.
Embracing Wendy with a gentle hug, Marvin continued the heartfelt conversation, "Wendy, we've been given this incredible opportunity, and I believe we should trust in God and our ancestors. They've seen us through challenges before, and they know what you're going through. Have faith in the journey ahead, and let their wisdom guide us."
Wendy, comforted by Marvin's words, nodded with a newfound sense of reassurance. The notion of placing trust in something greater than themselves became a source of strength, a beacon of hope during uncertain times.
"As soon as you start having cravings, my love, please let me know because I wat to make sure you get everything you need." He tells her and she smiles from ear to ear. "Thanks baby" She gives him a kiss.
