Writer's POV:
As the first light of dawn broke through the sky, Isabella found herself standing outside her apartment, watching as Caleb's car disappeared into the distance with a sense of urgency. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she recalled the events of the previous night, a mixture of excitement and contentment coursing through her veins.
Stepping inside her place, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth enveloping her. The memories of their time together lingered in the air, casting a glow that seemed to fill every corner of the room. Isabella couldn't suppress the smile that played on her lips as she went about her morning routine, the echoes of Caleb's presence still reverberating within her.
As she moved through her day, getting ready for work, a sense of anticipation stirred within her. Despite the rush of everyday life, there was a newfound sense of joy and possibility that seemed to accompany her every step.
She knew that whatever lay ahead, she would carry the memory of that moment with her, a reminder of the unexpected twists and turns that love could take. And for now, that was enough to keep her smiling to herself as she embraced the day ahead.
As she just finished dressing for work, the sound of a knock at her door interrupted her thoughts. Curious, she made her way to answer it, her mind still lingering on the events of the morning. However, as soon as she opened the door, she was met with a sudden and violent blow to her face. The impact was staggering, lights flashing before her eyes as darkness enveloped her consciousness. In an instant, everything went black.
As the day wore on, Caleb's attempts to reach Isabella grew more frantic. With each unanswered call, a gnawing sense of worry crept into his mind. Unable to shake off the feeling of unease, he made the decision to drive to her place after work.
Arriving at her apartment building, Caleb's heart sank as he found the door locked and no response to his persistent knocking. With each passing minute, his concern deepened, his mind racing through various scenarios. What could have happened? Where was Isabella?
Despite his relentless efforts, there was no sign of her, and eventually, Caleb reluctantly conceded defeat. As he drove away, a sense of helplessness washed over him, overshadowing the anxiety that had been building throughout the day. All he could do now was wait, hoping for some sign that Isabella was safe and sound.
As Caleb sat by the pool, enjoying a moment of solitude with his cognac, the serenity was shattered by the ping of a text notification on his phone. His heart skipped a beat as he saw it was from Isabella, but the content of the message sent shockwaves through him.
"I cannot do this anymore. I made a mistake, it's over."
His grip tightened on the phone, the glass slipping from his fingers and shattering on the ground below. Panic surged through him as he tried to call her back, only to be met with the cold emptiness of voicemail.
"Something is not right here," he muttered to himself, his mind racing with worry and fear. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, rushing inside to grab his car keys. Ignoring all caution, he drove with reckless speed towards Isabella's place, desperate for answers, his heart pounding with a sense of impending dread.
He got to Isa's place and was met by a Security guard. The guard told him they only guard the place at night so no one knows when Isabella was last seen. And he told him the cctv cameras are usually off by day time.
Caleb's frustration simmered as he exchanged words with the security guard, his worry mounting with each passing moment. "This place of yours is shitty, who told y'all that weird things only happen at night?" he snapped, his anger palpable.
The security guard, taken aback by Caleb's outburst, offered a tentative apology. "I'm so sorry, sir. Maybe you should call her workplace," he suggested, attempting to be helpful.
Caleb's mind raced, a sudden realization dawning on him. "Are you high on something? It's late for that," he retorted sharply, his impatience evident. Ignoring the guard's irritated response, he pressed on, "She also works night shifts, don't you know that?"
With a sense of urgency, Caleb bid the security guard farewell and revved the engine of his car, determined to find Isabella. As he sped towards Ignition Call Centre, his heart raced with a mixture of fear and determination, his only focus now on locating the woman he cared for deeply.
As Caleb stood in Isabella's workplace, his anxiety reached new heights. The woman in the reception asked him to have a seat and told him she was going to call the manager for him. He couldn't help but notice the striking beauty of Monica, the present manager. Despite the urgency of the situation, he took a moment to appreciate her appearance before responding.
"Good evening, Mr...?" Monica's inquiry interrupted his thoughts, and Caleb quickly composed himself, extending his hand for a brief handshake. "Just call me Caleb. I'm looking for my girl, Isabella," he explained, his voice tinged with worry.
Monica's expression shifted to one of concern as she absorbed his words. "Oh, well, she was working the day shift, but I heard that she didn't show up for work. By the way, she and I are best friends. I haven't been able to get ahold of her since this morning," she revealed, her own distress mirroring Caleb's.
Caleb's suspicions surged as Monica's words sank in. He knew deep down that something was terribly wrong. With a sense of urgency, he thanked Monica and hastily excused himself, his mind racing with the need to find Isabella and unravel the mystery of her sudden disappearance.
As Caleb's car sped through the city streets, his mind consumed by worry and uncertainty, he reached for his phone and dialed Mat's number. With each passing moment, his concern for Isabella grew stronger, fueled by the unsettling feeling that something was deeply wrong.
"She has disappeared, bro," Caleb's voice trembled with anxiety as he spoke, his words rushed and urgent. "She sent me a lame text, but I have a feeling that it wasn't even her. Please meet me at my place as soon as possible."
On the other end of the line, Mat's response came in the form of a sharp whistle, a telltale sign that signaled the gravity of the situation. "I'll be there now, now. Don't worry, Cal, we'll find her," Mat assured him, his voice steady and reassuring.
With a sense of relief knowing that he wasn't facing this ordeal alone, Caleb continued his journey home, his thoughts consumed by the mystery of Isabella's disappearance and the determination to unravel the truth behind it.
Awakening in an unfamiliar white room, Isabella's senses were immediately overwhelmed by the sterile surroundings. Panic surged through her as she scanned the monotonous white walls, her heart pounding with confusion and fear. Before she could gather her bearings, the door creaked open, revealing a strange Chinese woman bearing a tray of food.
"Who are you? Where the hell am I?" Isabella's voice trembled with desperation as she demanded answers. Ignoring her questions, the woman simply placed the tray on the bedside table, her demeanor cold and indifferent. "Eat. If you need anything, ring the bell," she instructed before abruptly leaving the room, the sound of the door slamming shut echoing through the empty space.
Isabella's cries of frustration and despair fell on deaf ears as she was left alone in the suffocating whiteness of the room. With each passing moment, the weight of her confusion and isolation bore down on her, and she sank onto the bed, tears streaming down her face as she grappled with the terrifying uncertainty of her situation.
As Mat entered Caleb's apartment, he found his friend pacing anxiously, the tension in the room palpable. "Show me the text you got from her," Mat requested, reaching for Caleb's phone. Without a word, Caleb simply pointed to the screen, his expression grim with worry.
"I'll trace where this was sent from. Do you think one of the idiots she's been with has something to do with this?" Mat's voice was tight with anger, his jaw clenched in frustration.
"I don't think so, Mat. I know so. And I'll find her. Whoever took her will meet his maker," Caleb's words were laced with determination, his face devoid of emotion as he spoke. With a shared resolve, the two friends set out on a mission to unravel the mystery of Isabella's disappearance and bring her home safe, no matter the cost.
"Leon and Owen. Those are the guys we should look into. I want no stone unturned," Caleb declared with a steely determination, his eyes flashing with resolve. Mat nodded in agreement, understanding the gravity of the situation.
"Alright buddy, I'll get the guys on it. In the meantime, I'll deal with the text and the last location her phone was on," Mat affirmed, his voice firm as he pledged to take action. With a shared sense of purpose, Caleb and Mat braced themselves for the arduous task ahead, determined to uncover the truth and bring Isabella home safely, no matter the obstacles they faced.
"We'll keep this between us for now. No cops, no unnecessary attention." Mat understood the importance of discretion, especially considering the delicate nature of the situation
Caleb nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. "We need to tread carefully. If her family starts to worry, it could complicate things further." Despite the strained relationship between Isabella and her family, Caleb knew they would be concerned if she went off the grid.
"Let's gather as much information as we can before involving anyone else," Mat suggested, his voice calm but determined. "We'll handle this our way, for Isabella's sake."
With a shared understanding, Caleb and Mat set out to navigate the murky waters of Isabella's disappearance, determined to uncover the truth and bring her home safely, all while keeping a careful eye on the looming threat of whoever had taken her.
